It is with sadness, having recommended Brocco on the Park often as we live nearby, that we need to warn people that standards have dropped dramatically. The staff ‘at the coal face’ are still very good, but senior management, it seems have abandoned them. The hot water has been off for well over a week now… when you ask to speak to the manager, you are put through to the head chef, who is valiantly trying to hold things together but who says he is the most senior member of staff available and this continues. There is no doubt that they are doing their best, but when various members of staff say they haven’t seen any senior manager for over 5 weeks, when they apologise and say that standards have dropped and they can no longer recommend the place. It is so sad to see somewhere that was a bit of jewel become so neglected that even though the staff are doing their very best to serve the guests, but even they can’t do it all. Is this a sinking ship? For the last two weeks, when we have had 3 of our guests staying there, it has very much felt like it. I would not normally post a negative review - it is hard enough in the hospitality business, but I have found it impossible to find out who owns the hotel now, nor to speak to a senior manager. I feel very sorry for the staff who are amazing and have done as good a job as possible under what must be very difficult circumstances. And yes, they still don’t have hot water 8 days on … and it is not because of the bank holiday.

Perfect. We'll appointed hotel. I should think the owners have spent a great deal of money creating a lovely modern hotel yet with an old building.

Bailiffs at the property and no hot water since March 7th. A lot of unsatisfied guests who were wanting full refunds on their stay. Never seen so many stressed young workers being seemingly bullied by the head chef. Housekeepers were wonderful and completely understood our angst, but just could not help. What a shame as it used to be such a lovely hotel before the group took over.

We've just had breakfast, and as always, it was perfect. The service was excellent with a good choice of breakfast. The food came hot and fresh. The restaurant is clean and the staff are all professional. This is a well run establishment with a nice relaxed a**osphere.

Delightful place/hotel very comfy room and we had the small plates which were delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone passing by Sheffield. We would definitely come here again if at Wetherby Racing. Managed to park our car and reception were very helpful.

Really nice hotel, nicely styled, comfortable room, great shower and liked the little touches eg complimentary Prosecco at 5.30pm, home made cakes in the room, fresh milk etc. Also good location close to bars and restaurants and easy access to Peak District. However, really let down by breakfast - if it is an extra charge then I do expect it to be good - small sausage sandwich that was £9.50, no bagels and alternative brioche that was offered was dry. Eggs Benedict - muffin stale and bacon had gristle, again small portion. Felt at nearly £50, as we wanted 2 coffees each, really poor. It was held out as a great location for brunch so really expected more. I did mention on check out and response was sorry and that it would be fed back - it did feel over the weekend that there wasn't anyone experienced around. Parking available behind or at nearby church.

We were visiting Sheffield on my birthday so treated ourselves to a night at Brocco. We stayed in Nightjar’s Nest and had an excellent dinner in the restaurant. The bedroom had underfloor heating but it was off and quite chilly in the evening, so we were surprised when at 05:30 the room was so hot that it woke us. After turning thermostat down and opening a window we managed a bit more sleep. At 07:20 we were woken again by a knock at the door. We ignored it but it persisted. On opening the door there was a fellow-guest who said she was looking for “reception”. Bit late for panto season … but it was behind her! We told the person on reception about our disturbed sleep and got only an apology and a comment that “the night porter usually sorts out the heating but he’s on holiday”. Given the cost of the room this response was disappointing and seems out of line with the high standards in the restaurant. (Complimentary breakfast would have seemed the very least you could have offered.)

Brocco on the Park ticks almost all the boxes on my list of hotel essentials. And I have high standards!
