Just got home from 4 night stay here. Wasn't expecting too much for price to be honest. Well glad to say was wrong!! Hotel looked like a Christmas wonderland! Decorations were amazing in every part of ground floor. Attention to detail was outstanding. Have paid to go into Christmas displays which were nowhere near as good!! Excellent job!! Staff were all so friendly and helpful. Special mentions to the 2 David's, Philip and James. Real credit to the hotel. Food was very nice, plenty choice. Breakfast was especially good. Buffet style but plenty of choice. Hot and cold. No issues at all. Room was huge!! Very clean and was serviced every day. Had a problem with one of radiators which I mentioned to member of staff. By time came back from daytrip was fixed. Lovely and warm in room. Had entertainment 3 nights. Just say that 2 were absolutely brilliant got everyone up dancing and singing. One was not so good! Place emptied out by 10pm. Not awful singer as such but didn't gauge audience at all. Didn't want to listen to slow songs from musicals or 1940's. Most of guests may of been elderly but goodness me they could dance!! Brilliant fun!! All in all we had such a good time. Loved Scarborough! Will be back to stay! Thanks to all staff for such an enjoyable stay.

Excellent staff throughout the hotel. Rooms are spacious and have everything you would need. This time we opted for B and B and the breakfast is really good. The food was well cooked and hot with excellent products. Ideal location for local buses and overall a really good experience. We have stayed at the hotel quite a few times now and the standards have never failed in any department. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

It was as was ordered Superior Twin Room plenty of space clean and tidy not far from the lift no complaints at all Hotel Car park full on arrival but £1 for two days on a street outside perfect Receptionist and bar staff efficient and welcoming could not do enough for us The young lad on the bar on the Saturday night did a fantastic job Only let down was the Sunday breakfast the milk ran out in the coffee machine and quite a wait for eggs, bacon and sausage!! Monday breakfast had no issues brilliant hot food and drink We will return

Stayed on a shearing coach holiday , a little out of town but I prefer that , I block away from seaside A brilliant hotel everything you need, Shower hot bed comfy food brilliant, parking close by will definitely return, the staff are very accommodating the hotel is a 8/10 in my option

This hotel is fab. Yes the rooms are a little dated so what you don’t spend all day in the room. The bed was comfy room clean and tidy and so was the bathroom. We had an evening meal on our arrival and it was lovely couldn’t fault it. The staff are so friendly we will definitely be returning. Thank you for our lovely bank holiday stay

Just returned from a weekend break at this hotel. OK its not the Ritz or Faulty Towers bit was adequate for our needs. Rather small bedroom but again OK. Bathroom, had mould around bath and shower curtain needed replacing. Very little places to put toiletries had to balance them on bath, found this poor. Two evening meals were very good couldn't fault them piping hot. Breakfasts very basic and little choice of cooked ones. No fried eggs only scrambled ones. Attention by serving staff was excellent and very attentive. Now commenting about the staff, with such a large hotel I found it ridiculous that there was only one bar staff on duty who also acted as wine waiter in restaurant. This staff member PHILLIP was run ragged every night and I think hotel management should rectify this absence of bar staff. Not a bad hotel a few little problems that management need to look at.

We stayed here for two nights on a David Ogden Mystery weekend. One of the mysteries with this hotel is why did management hand out envelopes containing our room keys & registration forms as we got off the coach & then, complete with our cases have to queue for 15 mins to select a meal time at reception? Luckily our room was only on the first floor (23 steps), which was very convenient if you wanted to hear the live entertainment while in bed at 10pm (room 107) so we did not have another queue for the one small lift. Our room was very newly painted & comfortable with a small one step walk in shower with a grab handle but no anti-slip mat. I did ask at reception for a mat but I was told the surface of the shower was anti-slip which I disagreed with & it was suggested that to get a mat then I would have to fill in a disclaimer form, but we used our own mat which we always take with us. Breakfasts were not very exiting with only scrambled eggs offered with the sausages, bacon, baked beans, tinned toms & hash browns on but no mushrooms or porridge, but there was a good selection of cereals & pastries. The evening meal that had a bread crumbed coating was a bit over done & could have been better if a bit of gravy on the roast potatoes. Mind you the meals that came with a small salad was very nice with a good mixture & not a lot of lettuce.

Beautiful clean hotel with very friendly staff. Breakfast is gorgeous with piping hot coffee and beds and pillows are very comfy. Can't fault a thing, very good value. Serve evening meals at a very good price if needed. Close to spa lift so ideal if visiting for a show or concert.

I rented a single room for three nights. The room was clearly a normal room cut in half. The fixtures and fittings were best described as a bit bodged. My bed had a caster missing meaning I kept rolling out of bed. I actually had to use some pamphlets from reception as a make-shift replacement to the missing caster. The room decor was very dated. My room felt like a bedsit out of Rising Damp. It was depressing staying here. The carpet was tatty. The window had paint peeling. The heating was intermittent. The floors creaked loudly. The walls between rooms paper thin. It was quite noisy with doors regularly slamming. The sink was actually in the main room (see what I mean about the bodged fixings and sqeezing in a room where it shouldn't really be?). There was no bath, just a shower. The shower worked but was very cramped and wasn't the cleanest. Parking was an issue. The one way system in the area took getting used to. The hotel car park is expensive (£6 per day) and only has a limited number of places. A parking ticket called a 'scratch card' is available (I paid £2 for 3 days) from reception (just ask, they'll sort it out). This scratch card is run by the borough council and allows visitors to park in certain street parking zones for a reasonable price - but be warned street parking around the New Southlands is limited. I had to park 2 streets away - this would be an issue for those with limited mobility. Also be warned. If you want a Sunday morning lie-in, the hotel is quite near Oliver's Mount motorbiking circuit - they don't tell you this. From 9am until 5pm on Sunday the noise from the motorbike racing was very loud in my room. The area the hotel is in wasn't a particularly nice area of Scarborough. It seemed an area of mostly old hotels and B and B's that had become run down bedsits. Saw one or two places with boarded up windows. This added to the depressing feel. On the upside you were soon out of it if you headed to the sea front. The sea front itself is lovely. Just immediately around this hotel and away from the sea front - it's not the nicest of areas. That's just my impression. It felt depressing. The only positives were the staff were helpful and professional and the public areas of the hotel quite smart. My actual room was quite unpleasant and extremely expensive for what it was. I regret booking this hotel. For this price you should get much more. I was glad to check out.
