Gideon Putnam Hotel

I would not stay here if you paid me. My room my was extremely moldy and mildewy smelling. My wife eyes were inflamed after sleeping and I had bite marks on me. I called the resort twice and left messages and no one ever called me back.

Fabulous historic hotel in the Saratoga Springs Spa park. Rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable however the standard rooms are a bit small. Restaurant was very good. Two issues - 1) Hotel was closing for the winter and the heat to our room was turned off. Eventually got a space heater, however on the weekend, the heat miraculously came back on - Guess it was too expensive to heat when there were less people in the hotel -- Very annoying. 2.) There is a $25/day amenity fee which *********** said was included. If everyone has to pay the fee, then it should just be a part of the room rate. Shame on a state owned hotel charging junk fees

Extremely comfortable bed and the SPAC area is beautiful. We plan to come again. Bring your golf clubs and bikes to take full advantage of this location. It’s only a few minutes to drive into town.

We had our NYSSEA Tax Conference at the Gideon for the 3rd year and will be there again next year. I love this historic hotel and the fact that it is nestled in the beautiful and natural surrounds of a state park. You will love the Gideon if you can appreciate the fact that it is an historic building. The staff is great, rooms are clean and there is a lot to do in the area.

The Gideon Putnam has one of the greatest locations (right in the state park), so surroundings are peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. Hotel itself has alot of history, just a wonderful place to stay, especially if you are attending an event at SPAC.

Beautiful location very friendly staff wonderful comfy beds, perfect for a girls get away weekend would highly recommend would love to bring my dog as it is very dog friendly, also nice places to sit and talk with friends

Huge, tired hotel in need of some tlc and some cleaning! Our room (439) smelt of sewage and the bathroom was filthy. Complained to front desk, who were very apologetic, and was moved to another room. Another very tired room (404) but at least it didn’t smell at first, Until we got into bed and couldn’t quite work out what the bedding smelt of, it wasn’t till I woke several times in the night because of the smell that it dawned on me what it was - urine! Hence we didn’t sleep after that and got up to have a shower!! We told the front desk staff about the problem, they were very apologetic and offered to waiver the resort fee and offer us a free breakfast (which we declined as we had to get on the road) they took my details and said the manager would be in touch, as if yet I havnt heard anything! We had made a reservation in the hotel restaurant, it said on the website it would be a ‘signature dining experience’, It’s basically a sports bar that allows dogs to sit up the tables!! I appreciate people take their dogs away with them but they should not be allowed in the restaurant and certainly not at the table! The food we had was not very nice at all. The steak was as tough as old boots. However they did take this off the bill. The only positive I can give about this hotel is that it looks impressive from the outside.

Old hotel, has seen better days. Moldy showers, dirty bed sheets, thin walls can hear guests next door, single elevator to serve entire facility. AC/ heater is old and super loud. Staff is ok, some are friendly some are not. I will definitely not stay here again

I just returned from a two-night stay at the Gideon. Everything was very nice at this historic hotel, except for one major exception. My group all had rooms on the top floor (5th floor) and each of the couples experienced the same problem with their rooms. The rooms had stink bugs everywhere. In my two - night stay, I had over 25 of these bugs in our room that I had I had to flush down the toilet. It was disgusting! When I brought it the attention of the front desk, they said "yes, all of our guests on the 5th floor experience this situation" Like that response was supposed to make me feel better! I said, "that's unacceptable" and I want some type of compensation. At that point, the hotel clerk said he wouldn't charge me for their $50 amenities fee which I never used. As part of a Delaware North company or any decent hotel, I would have expected so much more. Due to this experience, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I have stayed at many hotels throughout my year's, but I never encountered such a negative customer experience.
