This is a review i was hoping not to write. I was hoping the hotel and Thomas Cook by now would have offered adequate compensation to calm my stress levels. I complained on returning to the UK to the provider Thomas Cook, it took a long time to get a reply , they ensured me they were waiting for replies from the hotel, ,it never happened. To this day I have not had any correspondence from the hotel or Thomas Cook. This is the complaint as written to Thomas Cook, I have also included the photo's I put in the original complaint. This holiday was booked in good faith in February 2022. The hotel as advertised looked nice with great facility's, the room with balcony looked amazing. (see photo) On arrival at the hotel we booked in and was allocated our room, we were surprised as the room was named (Cabrera) and not numbered as all the others were. Apparantly It would have been 6401. We proceeded to the 6th floor, we initially had trouble finding the room, eventually finding it through a fire escape into the service part of the hotel. It appears to be a converted store room, very small, all the furniture was fitted and tiny there was barely room to shuffle down the side of the bed. The wardrobe was barely 2 foot wide with a sliding door. Draw storage was 4 small draws barely 4 inches deep. The fridge was barely accessible as the door only opened about 9 inches and hit the bed, and of course the noise kept you awake as it was within arms reach of the bed. There was no balcony as advertised but a Juliet balcony that had no room to sit at anyway as the bed was in the way of the only chair. The bathroom was tiny, accessed by a small sliding door. The wash sink and top, I believe was made to be fitted to a small boat or caravan. The shower door opened just enough against the toilet bowl to shuffle sideways to get in. Once you were in the shower there was a small window, this actually opened onto next doors balcony, this could cause embarrassment for both parties. Obviously we were a bit shocked by this room, I felt we were staying in a caravan. When we inquired at reception about perhaps changing rooms we were politely, but firmly, informed this would not be possible as the hotel was fully booked, but if we wanted to upgrade we could, this would incur an upgrade charge. We felt as if we were being blackmailed and discriminated against, we decided to just make the most of it. We spent no time or money in the hotel deciding to go out and use the local amenities. The hotel was very clean and well served by the staff but we got the impression that profit came before service. There were many stories about people being charged for upgrades see photo's Access to the room was through a wedged open fire door, if it had fallen shut we could not get out onto the landing. The room was next to the service lift and above the kitchens that were very noisy in the mornings with kitchen activity and cleaners in the lift.. I'm not even going to mention the Health and Safe
