카사스 비에하스(Masaya Casas Viejas)

We came here on the 27th of march for 2 nights and it really was the most beautiful hostel we stayed in. The private room was perfect and really clean. The pool and view unmatched. The only down side was the food. Being vegetarian there were only really 4 options for lunch and dinner (aside from pizza in the afternoon) and I had the pasta once it was really salty and not very tasty. Breakfast was dry and again not many options. I asked for just scrambled eggs on toast and they couldn’t do. I also asked for a smoothie without banana and they couldn’t do because they are pre packaged. The pizza was okay but didn’t seem homemade. My partner had the best of the sea which wasn’t what it said on the menu. We actually got a taxi to Minca village to have a meal the next day. I think that because the hostel is really out the way and in such a lovely natural location there should be lots of fresh options. I think if this can be improved this would be a good 10/10 hostel. We had a great time but just lacked the standard of food we have had around Colombia already.

Food is amazing and for a reasonable price. The facility is good and the relaxation concept is confirmed with the vibes at the place. I would have just wanted to have coffee at early morning, since it adds up to the experience in the mountain and the birds sing.

This property is unique in regards to its situation and it has a great setting; position of rooms, pool, dining area, ... . But it is very difficult to access and you would be limited to food, drink, and tours offered by the property.

Great location within Minca, friendly and helpful staff. Food is limited and the portion sizes are small. No amenities or local stores nearby so be careful for long term stays here. If you want serenity, this is the place to go

Very cool view and pool. Not very friendly staff and service. Getting there is pretty hard as it's not close to a town or city but we weren't contacted by the hostel to receive instructions on how to get there. Not even an email! The restaurant and bar options are VERY limited, you can't even get a coca cola. They have some very weird food schedules, I asked to have an empanada at 4:01 and they said they only serve them until 4:00 so I had to get a whole pizza instead which seems to be the only food option of you're not within schedule. It definitely feels like they'll try to get your money any time they have a chance. Beds have mosquito nets but mine had a bunch of holes.

AMAZING!!! This place is beautifully located. The grounds and the staff are just wonderful. Since it is partly a hostel, you have to take that into account. It can be a bit loud at times, but the location and the views will make you forget all else other than the beauty of nature. THE FOOD!!!! I don’t even know where to start. Keep in mind you’re at least 1:30 hrs away from the nearest eating spot, so you think, they got you trapped, they can just serve you anything and you’ll just have to deal! Well, be prepared for gourmet tasting dishes. We spent 3 night at Casas Viejas and had breakfast and dinner on all nights. I cannot say enough about how tasty everything was. The only draw back for us was the crowd and the noise that comes along with it, but even then, we would absolutely come back in the future. If you enjoy nature and all that comes with it, but also enjoy a bit of modern comfort, this is the place for you! Helpful hints : bug spray, bug spray!!!! Minca Legs is a real thing

Was excellent in every way. Superb views with lovely accommodation and food. Easy to be solo and meet some lovely people. But also had time to myself would 100% recommend. Bit of a mission to get there from minca either motorbike or 4 by 4. But then that probably what makes this place so awesome. Would book in advance though as very popular.

I hadn't planned to go to Minca, but a friend told me I must and I'm so thrilled I booked Masaya Casas Viejas, which is probably the best hostel I've stayed at. The infinity pool was an awesome size with the most incredible views. It was super relaxed - the staff were friendly, the food of good quality and a decent bar to socialise. As a solo traveller, I'm always nervous about whether I'm able to meet people and I met so many interesting people at Masaya. Hostel bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a very decent size for hostel standards. The staff were also accommodating in arranging a jeep for me to and from Minca. It's a bit of a trek from the town, which will put people off but I think you go to Minca to relax in the mountains. I highly recommend this place!

If only we had stayed longer! Where do I start... this was by far our favourite place to stay in Colombia. We stayed 2 nights in a one bedroom with private bathroom and a balcony with a mountain view that provided us with front row seats to an incredible thunder & lightening storm. Our room was large and clean, the bed super comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water for showering. The staff provided us with instructions on transportation to their location and we're glad we took note of them because the last 1.5 km can be a bit unnerving after a rainfall. We had pre-arranged our ride to Casas Viejas with Wilmer in his 4X4 and he safely navigated the muddy, windy, and bumpy road. Upon arrival, Laurith, whose customer service was excellent, greeted us with a friendly smile and welcomed us providing the information we'd need to for our stay. The food provided in the open air restaurant was excellent and the portions were generous. The heated pool was a treat with a killer view. Highly recommended!
