This is luxury accommodation in a beautifully renovated 16th or 17th C palazzo at very reasonably tariff. The hotel is in a convenient location a 15 minute walk from the Castello Estenese and Duomo. The furniture in the public spaces is high quality antiques. I especially noted the stair landing with three "grandfather"clocks. The dining rooms for prima colazione are of an elegance that I suspect was carried over from its former life as a palazzo di una famiglia importante. My room on the top floor was done in rather feminine style and had its own little spiral staircase up to it's dormer window with views over gardens behind the hotel. It was extremely comfortable and tranquil. The staff at reception were engaging and charming. They were able to direct me one morning to a are school supply shop where I was able to purchase two of the flattish and spacious briefcases that Italian primary and middle school pupils use for thir books and supplies instead of too heavy back packs. I have only seen these in Italy. The staff had to do some research and they did it quite well. I would not hesitate to recommend Duchessa Usabella Hotel to anyone with discerning taste who is visiting Ferrara

The hotel has a very special theme and a spa. My room was spacious and super clean and the breakfast was very good. The staff were very friendly and nice and I highly recommend this stay. The location is also good not very far from the center and the castle.

Nice Hotel at an excellent location but dated.

Nothing like 5star property. Sofa was torn, floor was dirty, shower doesn’t work properly and is too small.

It was a very bad experience. Hotel staff is rude and not qualified.

Beautiful entrance hall and steps in this old palazzo.. Lovely antique furniture through out hotel, however, bedrooms could do with an update but had a comfy bed. Staff friendly & helpful. Breakfast average but breakfast staff very cheerful and nothing too much trouble. No bar or lounge area though. to relax further in. A 5 min walk to historic centre

No parking at the hotel. Had to park at a nearby square. No WiFi

Non fermatevi al fascino della dimora antica. Da fuori sembra un bel palazzo lussuoso che merita le 4 stelle che lo contraddistinguono, ma la realtà é diversa. Molto diversa! Si comincia con l'accoglienza: Avevo chiesto di poter disporre della stanza alle 14:00 tramite booking e il proprietario mi aveva rassicurato che era possibile. Una volta arrivati mi viene detto che la stanza verrà pronta per le 15:00, pazienza, lascio la valigia e vado a fare un giro per Ferrara, rientro alle 15:50 e chiedo se mi hanno già portato la valigia nella camera. "L'hanno finita solo adesso... La valigia é ancora qui" e me la porto da solo.  Camera piccola e doccia minuscola. L'acqua della doccia sgocciola, il miscelatore non funziona, nel senso che si passa da acqua ustionante e gelata in pochi millimetri. Nella notte zanzare fetenti mi tormentano. Trovo il fornetto elettrico in un cassetto ma non c'é la piastrina. Dormo poco e male accompagnato dal ronzio e dal prurito. Infine quando scendo nella sala colazioni, inciampo nella passatoia della scala allentata e priva di fermi, non sono rotolato per le scale perché mi sono aggrappato al mancorrente! Arrivato nella bella sala colazioni uno squallore totale. Il bel banco bar ingombro di tazzine, tazze, residui di vasetti di marmellata. La scelta del buffet é da pensioncina ferroviaria: salame terribile e fette di formaggio plasticoso, panini gommosi del giorno prima. Si salvano le brioches. Non c'é la spremuta d'arancia e nemmeno le uova strapazzate, malgrado il cartellino che le indica. L'unica cameriera per un servizio di decine di tavoli é trafelata e mortificata, si scusa dicendo che spremiagrumi e piastra gastronorm per le uova strapazzate sono rotte. Come ci si possa fregiare di 4 stelle é un mistero. Alla larga❗
