Hotel Karl Schranz

Our second stay at the Karl Schranz which, unfortunately, did not fully live up to our favourable memories of 2023. This review would be 4* but for aspects of the service which are slow and complacent. The hotel is very clean, comfortable, and generally well run with a nice wellness facility. In the dining room, at both breakfast and dinner, we frequently had to ask for some of the salads to be refilled, which was done but the bowl/s had been depleted for some time while waiting staff were apparently ignoring it, or perhaps considered it was someone else's job? This was true of breakfast e.g. when the muesli bowl was empty. Despite staff passing by, it remained empty until a refill was requested. Tables were repeatedly being cleared whilst one or more of us was still eating, creating a sense of urgency rather than a relaxing meal with friends after a physical day. The bar service, though infallibly polite and good humoured, once under pressure continues at its own leisurely pace irrespective of how many guests are waiting service. We left with a sense that everything has got a bit too 'comfortable', and presumptuous of its customer loyalty. A shout out to Goran the driver - unfailingly smiling and helpful.

The hotel is quite nice, however the food was below par, we had to buy water to drink as it is not included. I have never had to buy drinking water from a hotel. They would not allow us to take drinks or food to our rooms even though a few people were ill. Not very accommodating.

We just left the Karl Schranz after a 7 day stay with 39 members of our ski club. The hotel is excellent and so is the food. The staff is super friendly and helpful! We have done many trips to the Alps and this has been our best lodge ever! Thank you so much for making our group feel so welcome. A special thanks to Tanya, Dominic and Evelyn for making us feel so at home.

Terrific stay. Friendly staff, superb food, decent bar prices, comfortable accommodation. Not near the lifts, but an excellent taxi service takes you to the slopes. The hotel has excellent pool, sauna and steam room facilities. The only thing issue I would have...when you get in from a day's skiing, the hotel provides hot food...but...it would be even better if it also provided tea and coffee. Thanks!

Great hotel - easy access to ski lift via short walk or free No3 bus outside hotel , or using the hotels courtesy ski transport Food very good and well presented however in honest I’m a big guy and was not enough for me (however did manage) Marco and Tanja were exceptional as our waiter and waitress during our stay and cannot fault them Hotel was very clean and the rooms were spacious and warm, spa area was superb Steam room , pool and sauna with great view of mountains and snow outside whilst in sauna Lovely bar area with friendly bar staff Recommend this hotel to anyone A+++

Stunning Hotel, with lovely friendly staff that couldnt be more helpful. Food was great and plentiful. Away from town centre but so easy to get to and from with hotel transport or local bus. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. If I could rate it 6 stars I would. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making our holiday so enjoyable

Clean comfortable friendly hotel. Dominic, Tanja and Goran are a credit to the hotel, they were all really friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little bit out of town but there's a free shuttle bus and the ski bus stops 50m from the hotel door so it was rarely a problem. The wellness spa is very clean and tidy and easy to use.

Great hotel in a quiet setback location. This was not a bother for us thanks to the hotel shuttle service down to the centre and back, and the free ski bus. Our room was spaceous and incredibly warm, had to open up window for the night. Bar and restaurant staff were friendly, couple of staff were really friendly and had time to offer great customer service, the rest always looked focused on something else, almost cold. Ski room was secure, the driver was always helpful with loading and unloading of our gear. Luckily we did not get charged for the fridge use in our room as had to use for the medication, note that it cannot be used for food or drinks of your own use, balcony was good for this if needed. The cleaners were amazing, always tidied up our room as if by magic during our breakfast, that was nice. The food was almost split into two groups: amazing and full breakfast vs. weird small dinner. We never left hungry after breakfast ready for a busy day on the slopes however always left hungry after dinner, which could be improved in terms of taste but also tiny, definitely too small for men and for a busy active day on the slopes. Saunas were fantastic, the pool area was lovely and hot despite the water being a little on a cold side. We would stay there again, the hotel was spaceous and clean, offered what we needed. A few things to improve upon, but that's like everywhere you go. Overall not a bad job K.S. Hotel Team!

Our experience from the hotel was that of a cheap and old place, not welcoming to guests and .foreigners at all The food was nice, the main housekeeper was very rude The only upside was the bartender… We do no recommend this hotel
