My recent stay at Sababa Resort in Lake Atitlan left much to be desired. While the resort had some potential, a series of issues, particularly in the realm of customer service and lost item handling, have left me with a lasting negative impression. Room Experience: I checked out of my room on September 13th, and the overall quality of my stay was, to put it lightly, average. Two notable drawbacks were the absence of air conditioning and the presence of exceptionally firm mattresses, which made for uncomfortable nights. However, it wasn't these issues that drove me to share this review. Lost Item Incident: Two days after my check-out, on September 15th, I realized I had inadvertently left a pair of clothing in my room. I promptly contacted the resort's front desk via WhatsApp around 12:47 PM, seeking professional assistance in retrieving my lost item. Unfortunately, the response I received was far from the level of service one would expect. Rather than offering assistance or reassurance, I was met with a disclaimer stating that the resort was not responsible for any lost items. This initial response felt accusatory and dismissive, leaving me feeling undervalued as a customer. In my determination to retrieve my lost item, I even offered to cover the shipping costs to the United States if their housekeeping staff found it. However, I received no response until I followed up at 7:12 PM on the same day. This delay in response and lack of empathy when dealing with a straightforward lost and found inquiry is a clear reflection of poor management and customer service. As a guest, I expected a certain level of care and professionalism, especially when addressing common issues like lost items. The resort's dismissive stance on lost and found items and their delayed response left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Regrettably, my experience at Sababa Resort has been so unsatisfactory that I would not consider returning in the future. While the resort may have potential, it is imperative that management addresses these concerns promptly and improves their customer service and lost item handling procedures to provide a more positive experience for future guests. In summary, my stay at Sababa Resort was marred by poor customer service, a lack of responsiveness, and a dismissive attitude when handling lost items. I hope that this feedback serves as an opportunity for the resort to make necessary improvements and enhance the overall guest experience.

I will never stay hear again this place have very bad security they let anybody on the property with security or any wristband I left my shoes and sandals outside I’m came back 3 hours later someone stole it right outside my hotel door and all the owner told he was it’s not are fault you signed a waiver they let someone come on the property in steal my stuff I high do not recommend this hotel unsafe

The dorm beds, shower, food, staff all good. The area when you pull up to Sababa could use some upgrade and repair. Why doesn’t the resort have its own boats also would make it so much professional add some entertainment and music otherwise you’re entertaining yourself.

The best part of this hotel is the lake-side location, but the actual facilities and amenities leave much to be desired. Be aware you are essentially staying in a pool-side cabana which has been converted into a "room" by adding a front-door and a shower. At night you can expect noise to be an issue, especially if you are in one of the rooms closest to the pool. This is because the walls are not completely solid (the part where the wall connects to ceiling is simply insect-screen). On the night we stayed, another hotel guest was talking on the phone at 1:00 A.M. pacing around by the pool immediately in front of us, and it felt like she was standing inside our room. Also, there are speakers playing EDM until the late evening and then start up again at 8:00 A.M. The payment process is tedious and inconvenient. Credit cards are not accepted to pay for your stay, so at check-in you need to be ready with all of the cash in hand. The irony is at check-out they also refused to accept a 100 quetzal note when I was paying for mini-fridge purchases (despite 100 Q being the standard note issued by ATMs). We are relieved we only stayed here for a single night, and we will look for a different place to stay in San Pedro next time.

Great location and facilities. Room was nice although bed did not have a top sheet which was odd. Views across the lake were amazing, nice pool, water cold but good to cool down from the heat. Breakfast was lovely and food/bar great. Bit of noise from the town at night but hard to avoid. 5 mins walk from the boat jetty and bars/restaurants. Note if you want your room cleaned you have to leave your keys at reception between 8-10am, found that out on last day!

The pictures on the website are misleading. This is not a true resort... it's more like a hostel and needs updating everywhere. The saving grace is the breakfast and the nice staff. we shortened our stay.

This hotel is very beautiful. Small, boutique feel with a lovely pool. The staff are super friendly but often made mistakes such as asking me to pay my total room stay again, when I have already paid, and having to argue before they agree they made a mistake. The ground is also very dangerous around reception and the pool, with concrete slabs and nothing inbeteeen the huge gaps meaning it’s impossible to pull a suitcase and your foot often gets stuck and trips. The tiles around the pool are curved and very slippery. The bridges over the pool and to the hammock area is Los a very odd shape and very steep. Not great if you have any walking issues. I would stay again as I am fit and healthy but I don’t think it would suit anyone unfit or with a slightl walking disability.

Absolutely amazing stay . My stay was wonderful the staff was very helpful ! Beautiful views from room.

Really nice place to stay. Staff are very friendly, food is soooo good, the view, the pool everything nice and clean
