Wonderful attentive hosts, beautiful rooms and the most comfortable bed ever, central to the shops/restaurants and Port. There was a lovely pool to relax by, weather permitting. Breakfast was exceptional and a good choice of hot or cold food. Great coffee too!

This place was an amazing find the breakfast each morning was delicious and the hosts could not done enough for us we were travelling for a month around France and this was by far the best place Thank you for your kindness Trevor - Hilary

What a fabulous place to stay. The proprietor’s, Pascal and Sandrine are most welcoming, warm, and generous hosts. Their home has quite a history yet is furnished in a contemporary design led manner, it’s wonderful and even has a swimming pool in the garden which guests can use, along with private parking to give added value as street parking is chargeable. Le petit-dejeuner (breakfasts) are quite the treat, and in addition to the apple juice, fresh fruit/bread/croissants/yogurt/ham and cheeses, etc. Sandrine freshly cooks something different each morning; french toast, waffles, etc. all with copious amounts of coffee /tea. Rochefort is lovely with a naval background and has some fantastic restaurants which Pascal and Sandrine can advise upon, all just a short walk away from Espirit du 8 which is ideally situated just off the historic city centre. Saturday sees a very busy market in the historic city centre. We loved all of it.

This place is highly recommended. Wife and I stayed three nights: hosts Pascal & Sandrine are super-friendly and helpful, breakfast is great, Rochefort is a bit dull but has some great restaurants (Les Beatilles is particularly good) so no issue that they do not provide lunch or dinner. We were unlucky with the weather so did not use the pool but outside area is very cute and well-maintained. Each room is based around a well-known designer (we stayed in the Florence Knoll which was beautiful and spacious with a super-king bed). There are more design pieces downstairs including furniture. Road outside is quiet. Rochefort is a great location for visiting Ile-De-Re, Saintes, Fouras and many other beautiful locations nearby.

We spent a night in L'Esprit du 8 on our way to Northern Spain and were delighted to have discovered this gem in Rochefort. Our hosts, Sandrine and Pascal could not have been more welcoming and made sure our stay was very comfortable. A very interesting property with lots of space, and a lovely garden, where breakfast was served. The perfect start to our holiday! We hope to return - thank you Sandrine and Pascal!
