Our fifth stay at the beautiful Uyal, and made even more special as we didn’t think we’d be able to return this year after my cancer diagnosis and surgery. We stayed, as always, in a sea view junior suite, and despite the aging bathroom (bath with a hole, shower non-adjustable, sink impractical) it was wonderful with a perfect view, great bed and bedding and the two tvs plus a free safe, mini-fridge and kettle. A small ****** was the soap dish over the bath which was not cleaned, and the balcony floor which was a little grubby under the table - but generally the suite was very clean and well presented. The staff are fabulous, led by Jose and Sebastian; and Josep should be very proud indeed of his team (Paloma and the two Juans are stars!). Reception staff go the extra mile (they resolved a couple of issues immediately with a smile) and cleaning ladies are also very efficient. And then the food - truly exceptional! The return to the evening buffet was fantastic, and we have just two suggestions on this subject: please don’t let the supply of food run out before 9pm (service is from 6.30 until 9pm, far too early for an evening meal), and please let’s have a return to proper desserts like tarte d’almendras and ensaimadas instead of little pots of mousse. Majorcan desserts are the only ones I live, and I missed them! But the chefs excel and we love the emphasis on authentic Majorcan recipes (not keen on the barbecues, too British for us! Please keep on doing what you do, we enjoyed every day and have already booked to return next year! And if you go, please make the effort to get out and enjoy the island. We drive every day, it’s relaxing, stress free and there’s a great free car park. The hotel and beautiful beach look even better on our return from adventures.
