I have the holiday blues following a week at Gran Castillo Tagoro (13th - 20th March 2024). It was our first time to Lanzarote and it won't be our last. It was our daughters’ first time on a plane (age 6 and 3) so they were very excited! The weather was good – around mid 20Cs, 25C and 29C one day(!), although we were advised that this was rare for March due to winds blowing in from the Sahara. Upon check in, the staff advised we'd been upgraded to a Deluxe Superior room (room 6443 in block G). There was a bottle of cava and some small chocolates in the room on our arrival which was a nice touch. Our room had the master bedroom upstairs with a large en-suite containing his and hers sinks, a jacuzzi bath, separate toilet and shower. The girls’ bedroom was downstairs with a toilet and shower at the front of the apartment. We had a large living area with a balcony which overlooked the dragon pool. Perfect spot. After the first day or so of getting our bearings, we started to relax and the girls loved the dragon pool. The temperature was relatively warm and the main pool was ok too. The great thing about the dragon pool was that the water was only waist height which meant it's safe for the kids so you don't necessarily have to go in with them all of the time and can just relax and watch them with a drink! They both absolutely loved the slides which made the holiday - especially our 3 & half year old, that was the highlight of her holiday! The entertainment was good - the animation team worked tirelessly (Gimmy was really friendly and helpful), we enjoyed Spanish dancing, a magic show, a karaoke night and other activities and the kids disco at 8pm was good - that's if our youngest wasn't asleep by then! Although not a five star resort the food was good quality and there is a great variety, there’s certainly enough to satisfy the fussiest eaters. Our favourites were the mini pancakes in the morning, croissants, full English and I especially enjoyed the fresh papaya as we don't get this in the UK, it was delicious. The girls loved the donuts and toast that was on offer, there was also a chef making fresh omelettes but I never had one as the queue was always so long! Lunch time again there was plenty of choice and all fresh, the same with dinner. The waiting on staff were very attentive, smiley and polite which made it an enjoyable experience. I enjoyed the thinly cut pork and beef steaks, dauphinoise potatoes, salads and seafood selection as well as the many desserts(!) the chocolate fondue, lemon mousse, mini sponge cakes and lemon cakes were big hits too. The desserts were quite nice really as they weren’t too heavy. My husband has a nut allergy so had quite plain food but he enjoyed the variety and his choices, as well as the lemon mousse and kiwi jelly for dessert. The resort itself is quite large so takes a few days to get your bearings but it has great facilities and I’d 100% recommend it for families. On the Saturday we walked up along the
