더 리프 - 부티크 호텔(The Rif - Boutique Hotel)

Beautiful hotel with a pretty garden. Great value for money. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Very close to the Leaning Tower. Minimal food offering but what they had was very nice. The breakfast had all you could ask for. Would not hesitate to return if I was in Pisa.

We came to the Rif hotel on recommendation from staff at Palazzo Cini - another hotel in town with the same owner. They told us specifically we would be permitted to pay for drinks and food in the bar for a few hours while we waited for our flight, and booked a taxi over for us that cost 20 euros. On arrival at the reception, the staff bluntly told us they would not permit us entry as we were not guests. They did not care at all about the incorrect advice offered by the Palazzo Cini team and sent a a away. A very disappointing display from both hotels, and I would recommend avoiding using these businesses while staying in Pisa on basis of their poor customer service.

The hotel is a modern take on an elegant older property. We stayed in the suite which had a quirky style and layout but was very well appointed with it’s own balcony, walk-in wardrobe & spa bath. Breakfast was excellent - a very full spread with something for everyone and the option to sit out in the gorgeous garden. The location was also great, just 5 mins walk from the tower but out of the hustle & bustle. Highly recommended if you’re planning to spend a night or two in Pisa.

The Rif hotel is an excellent place to stay when in Pisa - located in a calm street (i.e., not directly in the historical district crowded with tourists) but whithin a walking distance (5 minutes) to the Tower. This small hotel is calm and tidy, with a helpful and young staff. Our room for three was in the backyard, the room was net with all what you expect in terms of amenities. Beds were large and confortable, bathroom trendy and the whole place was very cosy and quiet. We did not use the private terrace because February was cold in the morning and in the evening. The main building is cosy and charming. Breakfast in the morning is just fine, in a small room with view on the garden - we took the Italian one with different pastries plus hot drinks - not sure that the continental one is worth of it (more choice but twice more expensive). We really enjoyed our stay - the location, the room, the staff, everything was great.

Lovely hotel in a good location near to the tower and other tourist things. Pleasant welcome and staff were very helpful throughout my stay. We did experience an issue on the first evening which was resolved very effectively by the staff and I’m very grateful to them for that. The breakfast was plentiful and there were lots of options (continental). Outside the hotel there were quite a few people ‘hanging around’ and some at the end of the street which made me feel a little uncomfortable as a tourist so that’s something to be aware of, but that’s nothing to do with the hotel. The room was comfortable and I would definitely visit again and recommend to others.

Check in was smooth and the staff was friendly. The room was on the ground floor and was clean, spacious, had some nice amenities such as a dental kit body lotion and espresso machine. They also have a decent minibar and bottles of wine for purchase. The bed was decent and the sheets were comfortable. I was on the side facing the road, though it was a fairly quite road and didn't disturb my sleep. The location was great literally about an 8 min walk to the tower. If I had to stay in Pisa I would stay here again.

Great hotel, great room, great location. attractions are really close. We will stay again there.

This is a beautifully appointed hotel close to the leaning tower, sights and shops. However Room 2 is noisy and very bright! with reception, phone ringing, front door etc and the shower very weak - difficult to shampoo hair. Clearly money has been spent on tasteful refurb, but the staff need some direction from absent management. I was served a spritz as they had no gin and tonic - I checked later and they clearly did have G n T - neither girls had a clue. Our waitress was very cheerful. Very limited dinner menu - best to go out. Horrendous hammering in the kitchen during our breakfast. Quoted E18 for mediocre breakfast, so went out next day. However on checking out breakfast was only E8!! On asking for information at reception re taxi or train to airport - not very helpful. The hotel lacked a**osphere and warmth - more attention to detail is required from management as the hotel has great potential but I wouldn’t recommend it at the moment.

If you are visiting Pisa to see the Leaning Tower, then this is the place to stay. It is a 10 minute walk to the cathedral complex, around which are numerous bars and restaurants. The taxi from the train station was 15 euros and it was 20 to the airport.
