네나 알 보르고 카스텔로(Nenà Al Borgo Castello)

Pico is a small village 45 km from the sea. In the middle of August when we were there the place of about 100 inhabitants was packed due to the Saint Mary and gnocchi festival. We had no idea when we booked it, but it ended up being the highlight of our trip. The 30-45min of driving to the sea were so well worth it (money wise, accommodation and car rental). In Pico we basically had 5 days of local festivities, great local food and wine, people dancing the middle of the street in the evening , even some choreographed moves, traffic stopped for everybody to enjoy the food, the live music, the dances, the conversations, the pizza, warm all around “buona giornata” and “buonasera” every day. We might have been the only foreigners there but they made us feel Italian. Pico will forever be tattooed in our great holiday memories. Carlo and his beautiful place were all part of this. Take a risk and book its place. Enjoy the ambiance and the ride!

A fantastic ancient building with unbeatable atmosphere and a wonderful host. Everything was clean and neat. It may seem slightly expensive, but it was well worth every euro. Close to everything in town.

We loved every moment of our stay in Pico. Carlo, our host was so accommodating, charming, and informative. The cooking classes were so fun and informative. The accommodations were quaint and clean. There was so much to see in this amazing castle town. I hope to return one day.

Nena al Borgo Castello is a wonderful place to stay in an interesting part of Italy. The rooms are comfortable, well appointed, and quiet But the real attraction is the food and the atmosphere that the great host has achieved. Carlo is charming and knowledgeable and has created an authentic country experience including fresh local foods. Highly recommended

Pico is a medieval village( Borgo)offering the calm and beauty of large valleys. The host of the Nenà, Carlo, welcomes us warmly and takes the time to tell us a little about the history of this beauty located in the heart of the castle. Everything is perfect. The accommodation is warm, the room comfortable, the unique medieval food court is artistic. Parking on the main street coming up from the village is easy and safe. Just in front of the fountain. This is a well-kept secret!

We visited Nena al Borgo for the 3rd time this autumn, arriving very tired after an overnight flight from the US. Carlo greeted us warmly, as always and after a quick freshening up, we sat down to one of his wonderful dinners. Freshly made pasta with his own ingredients, including olive oil from his orchards. You’ll never leave hungry! Pico is a small village with a lot to offer. There are hikes up into the hills, as well as many historical towns in the area that are well worth visiting. So, it’s the perfect place to stay, for rest and relaxation as well as for more active exploration of the surroundings. I can’t wait to return to this wonderful Inn.

This was our second stay at Nenà and hopefully will not be our last. It is a charming place situated in the narrow streets of a lovely medieval village. Carlo is a wonderful host who greets you with a friendly welcome. He is intelligent, informative, and genuine. After a few days together we feel like lifelong friends. We stayed in the Stanze del Vescovo—a suite consisting of a bedroom and sitting room. The bed was quite comfortable and the suite is decorated with attractive antiques. There is free parking in the nearby piazza and street. If you are flying into Rome and then driving to a distant location, Nenà is an excellent stopping point. Wonderful memories!

We just arrived home after our 5 day cooking class at Nena Al Borgo Costello! It was such a great experience that we’re already looking at when we might be able to return. Out host, Carlo, truly took our interests to heart. Each day began with an excursion into the surrounding mountains or coastal areas, with Carlo sharing his passion for and in-depth knowledge of the history and culture. We especially loved that wherever we were, he always had a very special place to not only ‘eat’ lunch, but experience it!! By late afternoon we returned to Nena Al Borgo Costello, to one of our favorite kitchens ever. We learned some really great recipes, new skills and refined some ‘old’ methods. Chefs Simone and Jacobo were not only really fun to work with, but also very knowledgeable and excellent teachers! Then the best part, of course, was sampling and eating all we had prepared with some wonderful wine!! Our accommodations were above and beyond what we’d anticipated. Our room looked out over the mountains (which were still snow capped). It was just spectacular and most comfortable! Overall, we feel so thankful to have had this experience and really hope we can do it again!! Thanks for everything Carlo!

Carlo's Italian cooking class, at the charming Nena al Borgo Castle was an absolute delight! We spent with my wife, seven magical days a the Nena Al Borgo, with Carlo, Simona and Jacopo for the cooking class. The experience was fantastic, the dishes were all exceptional, the castle, the rooms, the kitchen were all very authentic and well kept. Carlo was very passionate about his work and he also organized a private tour, every day, made us discover the charming little towns and their secret places. This trip gave us much more, than just a culinary or touristic experience. Even after few weeks has gone, we are still there in our minds, we still feel the kindness and hospitality. We cooked at home all those fantastic dishes, all the pastas, that we learnt and we are smiling, while we remember the stories and the feelings at Nena Al Borgo. See you soon, Viktor and Krisztina
