푸쿄 B&B(Pukyo Bed and Breakfast Belgian Lao)

We stayed here for one night in February 2024. This is a large / posh bungalow converted to a hotel. There are only about 4 or 5 rooms. David (the owner) was a great host. He was there to receive us when we arrived and showed us around. The bungalow is very well maintained and is squeaky clean (which includes room/bathroom and the common area). The room was very comfortable and the place was quiet at night. The room had all the amenities. On the minus side, there aren't any restaurants close by. But David usually drives the guests to the city centre for dinner and we had a good Indian meal, thanks to his recommendation. Our bathroom was tiny. Other than that, this was a pleasant stay. David also arranges good tours in the local region. If all this isn't enough, David speaks excellent English, French, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish and Italian.

David sait bien accueillir les voyage avec sourire et gentillesse. Chambre très correcte avec sanitaires privés un peu sommaires mais suffisant. Excellent petit déjeuner. David peut vous emmener en ville pour dîner. C'est une bonne adresse pour Phonsavan.

Un grand merci à David pour son accueil, très belle maison, chambre très propre et spacieuse avec balcon, petit déjeuner au top, super tour de la plaine des jarres et du coin organisé directement avec la guesthouse, pierre.

Der Ort Phonsavan ist nicht sehr touristisch. Daher waren wir sehr froh, dass die Besitzerin uns der Ort gezeigt hat uns uns am Abend ebenfalls in der Stadt absetzte und und auch wieder holen gekommen ist! Die Freundlichkeit war so gross, dass wir dies gar nicht in Worte beschreiben können. Würden Sofort wieder hier übernachten und empfehlen es alles die nach Phonsavan gehen möchten.

I came to Phonsavan to see the Plain of Jars but the other highlight turned out to be staying two nights at the Pukyo B&B with David. I had had some dialogue with David via email about availability as the various booking sites weren't clear on the situation and David suggested that while he was fully booked for the nights I wanted he could offer a room next door (owned by his wife and aunt). When I arrived it turned out he had had a cancellation so I got offered a room in the main house instead. As I had hired a van and driver to bring me from Luang Prabang and take me back there I had transport to get around the Plain of Jars but David took me out to find an excellent dinner on both nights. It's unlikely that I would have found either place on my own even if I was staying in the centre of town. The B&B itself is fairly basic but comfortable. David said he was considering adding airconditioning if it continues to get hotter in Phonsavan but it seemed fine at night. I was exhausted both by the trip there and a day touring the plains so after dinner I pretty much collapsed anyway.

Awesome experience, the owners are amazing people and really go out of their way to take care of you. I showed up after having a motorbike crash earlier in the day and they really went out of their way to make sure that i was taken care of. Would highly recommend anyone staying here. The house is beautiful and the rooms are nice, everything was clean amd the breakfasts were amazing.

Spirited owner was great for tour guidance.

David and Sakhone are great hosts. We felt very welcome. Our group of eight enjoyed the generous breakfast and dinner. The guided tours were tailored to our needs. The rooms are simple and comfortable. We were collected from the airport and David also dropped us off to various places as well as collecting us after a night out in town. Lovely service.

In some places you go to, the host of your accommodation can enrich the experience of your stay. This was certainly the case when my wife and I stayed at Pukyo for two nights on our visit to Phonsavan. We had a fantastic time, in large part down to the efforts of Pukyo hosts David and Sakhone - providing advice on where to go, things to see, etc. A very nice, clean place to stay too, with open space to relax. The beauty of Pukyo is that it’s a particularly good place to meet in with others too, and chances to socialise over breakfast or dinner. I wish David and Sakhone all the very best as tourism starts to pick up again in Phonsavan, and will look forward to taking Sakhone’s Pukyo tour the next time we visit.
