맥도날드 리밍 하우스(Macdonald Leeming House)

We booked at short notice for a special anniversary getaway, enticed by the beautiful views of Ullswater. We were not disappointed in that regard. The room with a balcony was comfortable and clean and the view fantastic. Staff were friendly and the receptionist sorted out a problem for us with little fuss. It is worth mentioning that the bar meal portions are on the small side and the breakfast is expensive for what you get. The full English is laid out nicely but is petite: one egg, a small rasher of bacon, one sausage, half a black pudding, half a flat mushroom, half a tomato, a tiny potato cake, one piece of sliced bread and a measure of butter. Other options like avacado on toast or salmon and scrambled egg demanded a hefty £6 premium. In the room, the towels are soft and warm but the bathrobes less so. The complentary shampoo & soap are fixed to the wall.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay in March with family at Leeming House. Beautiful location - the friendliest staff (remember Joe in particular) in reception / bar / restaurant Will definitely book again in the future - thank you for a great short break Very close to great walks too!

We had an amazing stay at Macdonald Leeming House for a short family break. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a lovely spacious family suite with a separate sleeping area for our two children which was great. The food at the restaurant was amazing and also the food at the lounge area was tasty. It is around a 5-minute walk to the lake and the hotel is situated in beautiful surroundings. We would love to stay at this hotel again.

This is an absolute gem of a hotel tucked away on the shores of Lake Ullswater. The welcome from the staff was generous and warm. The room was really nice, even though we had the cheapest room in the hotel. The food was fantastic. Really well-cooked and impeccably presented. The grounds are very traanquil. The Views up the lake are to die for.

The staff at Leeming House are unfailingly helpful and friendly.... each time feels like a homecoming to a very beautiful home ! Monica in particular is a big favourite...although I dont want to be unfair to the others, I run courses there regularly and my course delegates love it too ! I come back again and again!!

Excellent relaxing weekend stay in this beautiful friendly hotel. Big thanks to all the wonderful staff who made us feel so welcome and looked after all weekend. The food was amazing both breakfast and dinner the chefs really take pride in what they do, and everything tasted beautiful. The front of house team were excellent at what they did very professional and a pleasure to watch making you feel so welcome I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here for a great relaxing time Thank you

Well what a wonderfull hotel , a serene enviroment with wonderful views , for a perfect and relaxing stay in the Lakes. The staff are amazing. Can’t do enough for you ,very professional, but they have a homely side to them too,making your stay complete in my opinion , the evening meal menu is fantastic well presented ,lovelyflavours and perfect size portions too , well done Leeming House

Went to Leeming House for an afternoon tea for Mother's Day. Beautiful house with a gorgeous view of the lake from the restaurant window. We enjoyed a really tasty and generous afternoon tea- finger sandwiches, a huge selection of cakes ( fancies, macaroons, chocolate fondue, meringue and more) and warm fruit scones with cream and both jam and lemon curd. Proper tea served from a teapot into china cups. The service was amazing, really attentive with clearing the table, refilling tea, etc, and the staff were super friendly, chatty, and helpful. We went for a stroll down to the lake between courses to work up an appetite for the cakes. Yes, as people have mentioned, the paint could do with a touch-up here and there, and there is an air of 'faded grandeur' about the building. However, I much prefer somewhere with character than the modern grey and silver or 'instahun' fake flowers that you see in most hotels.

We arrived early evening having booked only a few hours before via a comparison site (glad we did as booking with the hotel is ‘considerably’ more expensive.) The reception we got at check in really was first class. Could have happily stayed & just enjoyed a chat there by the Christmas tree as the staff were keeping our toddler amused. Found our room with a view which didn’t disappoint. Plenty of space, warm & a great bed. Went for a drink in one of the lounges. Always mindful of changing the atmosphere in such places by introducing a thankfully quiet but busy wandering toddler but need not have worried as we had a large area to ourselves. In the next room guests with dogs were making themselves comfortable too so dogs appear to be very welcome. Great nights sleep & no complaints about the room. In the morning we got to really enjoy the views & make the most of this hotel being on the lake. A great way to spend your morning when there is snow on the hills & nobody about. Breakfast was fantastic, the food really didn’t disappoint at all. Small criticism. I know it’s a pain for the staff but opening up more than one room even when it’s quiet would make a big difference as it was quite intimate with several couples all in a fairly small room so any conversation louder than a whisper was shared with everyone. That’s it though. No other faults. Keep an eye on the price and book online, you won’t be disappointed.
