My family of four stayed over 3 days at the hotel apartment. There is a lot of potential with the hotel, but pity they didn’t make full use of it. First the niceties: 1. The apartment is spacious for Paris! It’s truly a one-bedroom apartment with kitchen, and the kids slept in 1 room and parents in another. And for this size the price is reasonable. 2. Location is good too! It’s just metres to an entrance of a metro line, and walkable from Gare de Lyon, and why we picked this place as we arrived late at the train station. There isn’t much sights nor exciting around the area, but you can zip around from here easily. 3. If you’re up early enough in the morning, the good coffee machine is free to use. It serves decent expressos and lattes. 4. Water and internet’s good. Separate toilet from bathroom. Then what we didn’t like: 1. The sound proofing is poor. We can hear people talking and chatting in the corridor, and people upstairs shuffling about. It can be quite noisy. 2. The hotel interior is old, and the minor update in the lobby was too little to change that impression. 3. Beds are stiff and mattresses thin. Even the non-sofa ones. Worst mattresses we had in French hotels during our trip. They didn’t set up the sofa bed for us, which would have been appreciated. 4. Why are there mosquitoes in the hotel premises?! Woke us in the middle of the night and we couldn’t get back to sleep till we finally got rid of it. And it was difficult to fall back to sleep with the stiff beds. So overall I think as a hotel for transit and quick sightseeing, the Citadines is just fine. But I would recommend elsewhere for longer stays.
