Hotel Residence Piccolo

Lovely hotel, the staff were all amazing! The terrace was perfect to sit out and have a drink of an afternoon/evening. Rooms were clean, and the cleaning staff did an excellent job through the week. Breakfast was great, excellent selection. There's a shuttle bus down to the beach, but we walked down to the beach or town. Not a huge amount to do on the area, but lovely to come and relax. The one thing that was a bit odd was the evening meals, which we did find a bit hit and miss at times. The first night was a bit of a low point (tiniest piece of sea bass I've ever seen, and for desert the 'fruit' which was the only option was an unripe nectarine each and a bunch of grapes). There were also some very bizarre side dishes (for example a plate of Brussel sprouts). If you are a fussy eater (luckily we are not) I think you may struggle. Overall the hotel was lovely, I'd come back on a bed and breakfast basis.

We have just returned from a week's stay at this gorgeous hotel. The location, food, staff were simply amazing. The hotel had a nice mix of Italians, Germans, French and British guests who were all really friendly. We met a few people from the U.K.who we shared a couple of drinks with who were really nice. We used the hotel shuttle bus a few times to Tropea and the local beach but we just wish we had travelled further afield ( Scilla, Pizzo on the train or one of the boat trips from Tropea ). We had intended to have a meal one night in Tropea but the food was so good, we ate in the hotel every night. The staff from Alessandro and Emmanuela to all of the hardworking waitresses, Michael ( French barman) Francesca, Tony ( drove the minibus ) and to the cleaner who cleaned our room ( 12 ). Considering it was August we couldn't believe how peaceful the rooftop terrace was during the day, although people were probably exploring the lovely area of Calabria. We would definitely return to this wonderful, chilled and relaxing hotel.
