호텔 미시온 팔렝케(Mision Palenque)

This hotel looks amazing when you first arrive. It’s set in beautiful grounds that back on to the jungle with wild monkeys in the trees. The drinks and food were very reasonable. However the service is why my review is so low. They just want your money. They won’t let you pay by card we had limited amount of cash with us and we were forced to use it all here. I asked if i could add it to my room and pay when I checked out No you pay now ! Every time. Utterly ridiculous oh and the breakfast was terrible I asked for another glass of orange with my breakfast no you pay with his hand stretched out. I get the feeling they don’t like tourists. Shame because it looks so nice when you arrive

The hotel is lovely. It has beautiful grounds which are carefully maintained and we enjoyed the pool. One caution the pool is not marked for depth and it is too shallow for diving. There is a children's pool which was nice. Our rooms were well equipped and immaculate. The breakfast buffet was well prepared and offered something for everyone.

Our tour group stayed here for two nights. The hotel grounds are very nice as is the lobby,pool and dining areas. Our room was small and very basic but considering the location it was adequate. Fixed menu meals were provided by the hotel. The soup and chicken were good and the flan was excellent. Breakfast included juice, fruit, eggs,, salsa and fried bananas.

The grounds are gorgeous but: * the rooms are dated, cramped, and without any soundproofing so I could hear the coughing, peeing, and television from neighboring rooms *WE HAD TO PURCHASE POTABLE WATER FOR OUR ROOMS even though the listing says they provide bottled water. Asking at the desk changed nothing. *None of the safes in the room worked, they were all just empty shells * there was no hot water one evening * the food is BAD and hot food was barely warm

Very dedicated personel, even roomservice. Very nice hotel. Highly recommendeble. El personal es muy atento. El personal que prepara las habitaciones tiene hermosos detalles. El hotel es un oasis dentro de Palenque. Muy recomendable. Sehr höfliche Bedienung. Die Zimmermädchen haben unser Zimmer sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Das Hotel ist sehr schön, und die Lage ist sehr gut. Sehr empfehlenswert.

The positive reviews confuse me. Mision Palenque is worse than you'd find in a Motel 6 in the States. Rating something like that high at this price point is odd. We stayed there thinking it was the best option in Palenque. That may be - but it is so bad. Checking in was a challenge because they have young kids doing their best - but you're competing with the herds that roll in off the tourist busses when you try to check in. It is absolute chaos. The place is dated and run down. We weren't given a remote for the a/c when we checked in (you have to ask for it) and it is so hot. It took 3 staff members and about 30 minutes for them to figure out how to get the a/c to turn on. The rooms are basic and noise from the masses make it very loud. Again, this is equivalent to a very cheap and run down motel in the US at a price much higher. The restaurant was a worse experience. Staff was very cold - but they warm up and then we found them to be friendly. They probably have to put up with a lot of difficult situations. The food is very bad. Not just the taste - but the consequences. I spent the entire night dealing with that misery. It made for a terrible experience in the archeological ruins the following day. If you are going to stay at this hotel - I'd caution you to not eat the food. Overall, you should avoid this place. It is so bad.

To all the people thinking whether to choose to stay in this hotel or not, I'll say this; Don't, that is if you care about not having your money stolen from you. This November we traveled with a group with an established tour agency(Versus) around Mexico. One of the stops was Hotel Mision. Although, everything including the food, the amedities etc. was beyond what we expected, our experience was marred by the fact that the employees of this hotel systemically robbed several people of our group. To start with, the safes of the rooms we were given weren't operational and we could not secure our valuables such as ID's, passports, wallets. Later on, we decided to visit the restaurant of the hotel to have dinner and the next day, several people of the group started reporting they had cash missing from their bags. Upon hearing this, I proceeded on checking my wallet and to my dismay I realized I was missing the sum of 350 dollars. Racking our brains out to see when exactly our money were stolen, we realized that the only time possible for that to happen was the dinner we had the previous night, where I including others, stupidly left my wallet in my suitcase. Our tour leader reported to the staff of the hotel and then the hotel's manager asked why we weren't using the safes provided in the rooms. Upon hearing that, we told him that, this was impossible since they were not working and then he started spouting some bogus, saying that he had given us some special key to lock the safes. Mind you, the tour agency had been working with this hotel for years and we were assured that no special key was ever given for the safes. Obviously the manager is in cahoots with the people stealing and was trying to cover for them. It's truly a pity for a place like that to have it's employees ruining the reputation of what could be a wonderful time.

Standard hotel located at the edge of the town on an isolated property. A bit of a walk to find other restaurant options than the hotel’s restaurant. Rooms were okay, but a bit old. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet was a bit limited. All in all it was fine for just one night, but I was glad we were not staying longer due to the location.
