포우사다 도스 쿠아트루 칸투스(Pousada dos Quatro Cantos)

This place was unique. The location is perfect. The breakfast was delicious, the room was very clean, the swimming pool area was beautiful and the service was great.

We spent two nights at this place and we absolutely disliked the room. In all fairness, we reserved what was available (an economic room) but we did not expect it to be so bare and basic, with poor natural light and ventilation. Luckily we hardly spent any time in the room and there were two points that were ok - location (if you don’t mind being in the middle of the party) and the breakfast, which had good variety of typical food. The building is an old, colonial period house which has a great appeal on the pictures and is indeed interesting. If you choose to stay in this place, just make sure not to get the economic room and ask details about the accommodation.

I enjoyed my stay here immensely. The hotel has a very nice staff, always eager to help and offer the best service possible. I was sick during part of my stay and the staff was concerned and helped me whenever needed. The rooms are amazing, all scattered around the old, historic house, and we ended up getting one just above the restaurant area. The food was great, amenities were thoughtful and the pool was small but sufficient. My biggest downside was the lack of accessibility to the hotel. Even if you don't have mobility issues, you might find it uncomfortable walking around with heavy of large luggage.

Great place and extremely well located. Staff was professional, helpful and breakfast was to die for. Highly recommended!

The old restored mansion creates a lovely impression as you arrive with the mature garden inside the walls, the welcoming reception area, the breakfast areas inside and out, and interesting art & curios everywhere. Erika had arranged for us to park our rental car in the garage next door for which we were grateful. It is in the artistic neighbourhood with cafes and live music. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. It seems that since the 2019 reviews things are not working as smoothly anymore. We had booked a Deluxe Double room, and confirmed it, but we clearly didn't receive one (room 117). Room 117 is not at all like the rooms in their photos of Deluxe Double rooms. The room felt as though it might have been the servant’s quarters in ages past. Our room was an awkward, narrow, cramped room with a queen bed and a twin bed squeezed in to create a family room. The Balcony was narrow and tiny with half of it an alcove housing the A/C compressor for what seemed to be several rooms. The compressor was exactly 6 feet from my pillow with the sound buffered only by a single sheet of window glass. I know it sounds unbelievable so I will attach a photo of it. The air conditioner was mounted directly above our bed and blew noisy cold air on us. We couldn’t turn it off as it was a hot and humid night and very stuffy in the room. The bed only had a single top sheet with no blanket to help brace us against the cold. Between the noise and the cold we finally gave up on sleep and decided to get an early start on our driving day. We decided to pack before breakfast, and that’s when we found out that the shower only ran cold water at 7 a.m. I have since found the photo of our room on their website and it is billed as a room for 3 people. I was very disappointed as I’d had email exchanges in advance to ensure our room was what I’d booked. After my confirmation of a Deluxe Double room from *********** I received an email from the Pousada saying my “economic room” was reserved. I immediately emailed them to ensure that the room would be Deluxe Double inside the main house as we’d reserved. The response, "they’d made an error, our room would be the Deluxe Double". It was not. That would have been the time to tell me honestly that they couldn’t accommodate us as reserved and I could have easily found something more suitable elsewhere. Our bookings almost never have a problem but I guess you can’t win every time.

The hotel is an example of the local historical architecture. Rooms are sufficient for a short stay and location is superb.

Abbiamo soggiornato qui per due notti con l’idea di rimanere nel centro città. La struttura è molto bella con una grande hall molto bella. La camera piuttosto piccola, piccolo anche il bagno. poco agile il tutto. Molte scale. La colazione invece devo dire era veramente eccezionale con una grande scelta tra il dolce e il salato. Il prezzo un po’ più alto rispetto la media.

Uma estada tranquila e envolta do passado , visto a pousada ser em um casarão histórico . Amabilidade dos funcionários , quarto muito bom , uma piscina boa pra refrescar do calor , localização muito boa ( da pra fazer tudo a pé ) , café da manhã com iguarias típicas e bem diversificado .

Tuvimos una estadía increíble y se agradece la buena atención y espacio que tiene uno en un lugar muy acogedor. Se presta para viajes de parejas con ganas de tener un lugar de uno. Gracias a todos el personal, buenas habitaciones y un desayuno de lujo.
