The hotel is superbly located, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains, yet located within easy walking distance of the center of Oberstaufen with its many restaurants and shops. (The hotel also provides an hourly shuttle service to the Oberstaufen train station; in addition, the local town bus ("Ortsbus") has a stop right in front of the hotel.) The room I had booked, a studio in one of the adjacent buildings, was spacious, airy, bright, and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a very nice free-standing bathtub - perfect for a relaxing soaking bath at the end of the day. Breakfast was fantastic; the enormous breakfast buffet offered everything one would want and then some. Service was excellent; everyone on the staff I interacted with during my stay - from restaurant servers to receptionists and housekeeping staff - was very friendly and helpful. But the best part of this hotel are its spa and wellness offerings, which are absolutely top notch and which were the primary reason I had chosen this hotel in the first place. The wellness facilities include three pools, a large sauna, a steam bath, several relaxation rooms, and a huge fitness room equipped with the latest in gym equipment. The entire wellness area was spotlessly clean, uncrowded, peaceful and serene. The hotel offers a large menu of massages and therapeutic treatments. I had several of their offerings during my stay and found them to be excellent. I can especially recommend their body wraps, which are performed in a special waterbed like system that I found to be supremely relaxing and reminiscent of the experience of a float tank. All in all, I had a wonderful and memorable stay at the Hotel Allgau Sonne and I will be sure to visit again. This hotel represents the very best in Bavarian hospitality and German wellness culture.

The moment I arrived, I was welcomed by a friendly staff. They offer valet parking, which I suggest using because the parking garage is very compact. The decor of the lobby and dining rooms were mixed quite well, complimenting eachother between Old & New. The bar was lively with a band and outgoing wait staff. The rooms were again mixed with Bavarian and modern styles. I would like to see a larger TV, but the giant sliding doors and the incredible views give you enough to look at. I would stay again without question.

My wife and I stayed a week at Allgäu Sonne for hiking, biking and golf. The stay was great. We enjoyed a spacious junior suite with wonderful view of the mountains. The rooms are stylish and comfortable and had everything we needed. The hotel offered delicious food and wine, a lavish breakfast buffet and great gym and wellness facilities. The only downside was the weather - 50% clouds and rain. The hotel should have done a better job providing for sunshine :-).

Our second visit to Allgäu Sonne. We came for my daughters birthday because she loved her first stay so much. Great service, very kind and attentive staff. Excellent breakfast buffet and in house restaurant. The Spa areas and pool are also very well kept and spacious.

It was my first stay at the hotel and can definitely recommend it. I booked a 4 night package which included half-board and 3 treatments at the Wellness Center. On arrival, my car was taken to the underground parking which I recommend to book as there is not that much parking or if you aren't comfortable parking along a narrow road. The room was lovely and although it was a single room, it was very spacious. The breakfast buffet offers everything you can think of and the dinners (if you book half-board) are a 5 couse delicious meal. On Sundays, there is a 7 course gala dinner which was outstanding. The spa area is spacious with a big pool, massage and beauty center. There is also a small boutique and a hair dresser. The hotel also offers many sports activities from Yoga to gynmastics or guided hikes - for free. The town of Oberstaufen is merely a 10 mins walk away. If you seek a place to recharge your batteries, this is the place to be!
