A private family run hotel and you could understand why it is so good. The staff were interested and very helpful, attentive at all times and creating a really friendly vibe. First time at the hotel and will recommend it !

Beautiful boutique hotel in a fabulous building. Staff were exceptionally polite, helpful & well trained. Food was excellent evening meal and breakfast. We used the Spa facilities which were as good as any we’ve been to. Will come back when working this way in the next few weeks.

As always this Country House visit did not disappoint! We have been visiting for many years and each time is as perfect as the last! The staff are friendly and welcoming. The spa is exceptional. We ate in the Blue tiger this time and enjoyed a delicious meal with many cocktails! Breakfast is a definite favourite with a great choice of not only continental but various cooked choices also catering for vegetarian! The two lounges are beautifully decorated perfect for an evening of chatting and relaxing. The bedroom was comfortable and the shower hot with large fluffy towels, perfect after a day walking on the moors which are a stone’s throw away. All in all a perfect stay and we look forward to our next visit!

What a find this hotel was! Situated on the southern edge of the Dartmoor National Park and a short drive from the A38, you really are in the middle of nowhere here. The public rooms are all very comfortable and modern but with that homely, country house hotel feel. Our bedroom was lovely; clean and with the most luxurious bed and bedding. The bathroom had been recently updated and the the views over Dartmoor were to die for. The food was quite simply, stunning. We were spoilt for choice and had trouble each evening deciding what to chose. The quality of the produce was a standout but the execution and presentation was beautifully done. The spa was the icing on the cake: a decent size swimming pool, lovely sauna and steam room and one of the biggest and best jacuzzis we have ever been in, complete with water jets and areas you can actually lie in. The hotel offers a selection of treatments reasonably priced with 10% off for guests. We sampled two and both were fabulous! From the welcome on our arrival to our departure, the service was super warm, friendly and professional. Everyone we met deserves a mention, so thank you to: George, Imogen, Dave (thanks for the tips on where to go and how to best get there!), Tom (we loved the banter!), Hollie (spelt correctly!), Mike, Sheila and Emma (good luck with the driving lessons!). We will certainly return. In fact we are already planning visit number 2!

a lovely hotel on the board of the moors, it gives you everything you would expect in this location. well looked after and nothing was any trouble. i would strongly recommend this hotel too anyone.
