Be warned: DO NOT STAY AT BANKERS ALLEY. Don’t let the location, boutique talk, high room rates, and art stuff fool you into a reservation under the assumption this is a cool, hip, upscale, quality hotel. It’s not. It’s not maintained, cheap everything, under trained staff, and not clean. The overall theme is dank, dark, unkept, and sloppy. The elevators were torn up and dirty. Our room had repair patches on the wall that were spot painted over and very obvious, the furniture looked like repo stuff from a 40 year old hotel, the rug had spots from lack of maintenance, there was a large tear hole in the blanket, the coffee maker didn’t work, the toilet paper holder was about to fall off the wall, and I could go on and on. The worse part was that we paid for the premium suite at over $600 a night with tax. After one night of feeling cheated we made an early morning call to the front desk and asked if we could do an early checkout out without even mentioning the issues. A very nice front desk clerk told us, “yes and there will be no charge”. We then made reservations a few blocks away. When we went to check out, the desk manager overruled the clerk who was standing there and then charged us. We explained what we had been told, that we made reservations elsewhere, and all the reasons why we were leaving. She refused to budge. After I started listing the defects she finally agreed to cut the cancellation charge in half down to about $300 with tax. This hotel is obviously following a business methodology some call “Slumlord Accounting” whereby the owner first takes out its profit and then, if after payroll and required operating expenses, whatever is left can go to repairs and maintenance. If not enough, then repairs aren’t made, upkeep suffers, things go to hell over time, and “too bad for the tenants” because profit is always taken out first. Total cost to us: $1074.12 for one night stay and parking (no food, no drinks, and not including valet tips). YOU’VE BEEN WARNED! Not what is advertised, not what one would expect, and definitely, definitely, not Hilton quality. We feel duped by the whole experience.
