페포니 비치 리조트(Peponi Beach Resort)

We enjoyed our stay at Peponi Beach Resort. We were in the bandas which and been nicely prepared for us. When we asked for extra towels, they were delivered immediately. The food is really good and amazing value for money, especially the seafood. It is worth placing your order a few hours in advance and giving a time you want to eat to avoid long waits. They feel understaffed at times and one afternoon/evening there was only one waiter managing the bar and the restaurant on his own which meant waiting a long time for service in either area and he clearly was struggling to cope. Wifi rarely works which can be frustrating. My son managed to cut his finger badly on some glass and the staff were very helpful in directing us to a Doctor in the area.

Perfect place, like sea, but awful staff service! They reserved the 4 umbrella rows in front of the beach and when we occupied 8 places on raw 5 (no towels), they tried to throw us back (literally) with the excuse that these are already reserved. The worse was the answer: I DON’T CARE! The guy also tried to take my towel and sun hat and throw me out himself. Finally they left us stay under the condition that we have to make a consumption of 25 Euro. Will never repeat!

Stayed here for a week. Ocean front property with great view of the water from their outdoor lounge area. Place is somewhat rustic but we loved how quiet it was when we were there (not many guests at the time). Bandas or cabins as they might be called, are screened in but do not have actual windows so if you're looking for total privacy this might not be the place for you. Food was great and staff was very kind, helpful and friendly.

Pro: Prachtige locatie, veel schaduw, direct aan het strand, en veel mogelijkheden tot uitstapjes: snorkelen, motorrijden, tripjes naar het interessante stadje Pangani, etc. Staf is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Vers buffet op oudejaarsavond, afwijkend van normale menu, zonder bijbetaling Con: Staf is niet heel snel, en geeft niet altijd feedback (we hebben bijvoorbeeld een uur zitten wachten op onze bestelde koffie, en toen we er weer naar vroegen, zeiden ze dat de koffie op was, en ze daarom niets brachten - dit soort gebrek aan informatie kom je wel vaker tegen in Tanzania) Het eten is van wisselende kwaliteit: de tomatensoep op zaterdag was ok, en de tomatensoep op zondag was niets anders dan gepelde tomaten die een tijd gekookt waren. Onderhoud van het park is hard nodig: veel is kapot, oud of slecht onderhouden. Alle lakens worden iedere dag verschoond, maar ze hebben wel allemaal scheuren. Dat geldt voor meer beach resorts in Tanzania, maar hier was het nog een stukje erger. Eigenaar zouden meer moeten investeren in onderhoud. Alles wel schoon. We sliepen in de 'safaritent'. Dit betekent meestal een nette, sjieke tent, maar deze was oud en kapot. Het bed dat erin stond was 170 cm lang (kort).
