레 샬레 뒤 몽 다르부아, 메제브, 어 포 시즌스 호텔(Les Chalets du Mont d'Arbois Megeve, a Four Seasons Hotel)

I had mixed feelings about staying here but thought the Four Seasons Hotel would not build a hotel in a location that didn't have good skiing, etc. From the moment we arrived it was one problem after another. Here are the cons from my experience: 1). They do not upgrade rooms even if you have a package that includes an upgrade "based on availability." We were told there would be no change in being upgraded anytime during our stay even though our package included an upgrade. The front desk lady was so rude when she said there was no chance. After asking several times during our stay they finally told us they had a "last minute cancellation" and could upgrade us, but it was a room that was in the furthest away chalet which required you to call for a shuttle anytime you wanted to go and do anything, including going to breakfast. We refused that upgrade due to that. 2). Location is remote. You have to take a shuttle service to get anywhere which we ran into problems twice when the ski room told us they would pick us up in 10 minutes and after 30 minutes we had to walk back. They gave us a bar of chocolate and an apology note and said it would never happen again but sure enough it happened again 2 days later when we and another couple waited over 30 minutes for a ride. 3). Rooms are small, especially the most basic rooms (the smallest I have seen at any Four Seasons Hotel) We were finally given an upgrade to a larger room but refused it since it was so far away and it required you calling for a shuttle to go anywhere including the main hotel where breakfast was located. 4). Indoor/Outdoor Swimming Pool was Luke warm at best. We never saw anyone use the pool when we were there for this specific reason except for the first day when we arrived and there was one other couple in the pool who also complained about the temperature and the spa manager told us that was the warmest it could go up to. We went to the other main Four Seasons Hotel in Megeve and they had no problem with their pool temperature. Don't be fooled by the photos of the indoor/outdoor pool at the Chalets. You will never use it because of this reason (unless they figure out how to heat it up). 5). You have to have internet access no matter where you are in order to use the app to text for the shuttle service. They can be a real pain if you are not from the EU and don't have cell service on your phone. They depend very heavily on their Four Seasons App which has the chat feature to ask them to do anything. 6). Skiing at Megeve is mediocre at best. If you are anything above an intermediate skier you will be bored very quickly here. I would go to nearby Courcheval all day long which has some of the best skiing in France and some of the best 5 star hotels, shopping and quality restaurants. Here are the pros: 1). Best place to stay in Megeve! Amazing Spa and free shuttle service to everywhere! The Hotel itself is authentic and verycomfortable at the same time !! Exteremly happy with my stay gonna be back soon hopefully!

Excellent stay at the chalets - service was exceptional - chalet was perfect for us - felt out the way which was nice but close enough to reception for everything - the staff can’t try any harder and their WhatsApp service was brilliant - with a. Shuttle available to take you everywhere it really was ideal

Had an outstanding stay for 3 nights in December over the holidays. Very close to ski area and town. Stayed in 2 connecting suites in Chalet Alice. Staff extremely well trained and very attentive. Had no issues with the room. The shower was a little cramped and did not have shelves for soap, shampoo etc. Had daily breakfast which was delicious. Their house dog is so cute and friendly. The place is a little too quiet but very cozy.

Our trip to this resort was the worst vacation of our life. It felt more like a week of torture than a vacation. The hotel mismarketed the room, and then lied about the accommodations. As a result of their absolute negligence and deceit, my son hit his head on a low beam (under 5 ft) in what I was told would be an acceptable third bedroom room in an overpriced suite, but it is not suitable for anyone over the age of 6. The room was completely unsafe and against the appropriate regulations that I would expect any Four Seasons to adhere to. My son now has a concussion. He is not able to ski or exercise and must avoid sunlight the entire week. He spent most of first 3 days here in bed. We spent more than 8 hours at the hospital, and we were so miserable we decided to leave early. This hotel does not meet the high standards that we are accustomed to from Four Seasons. This resort is absolutely not worthy of 5 Stars!!

Tomas was excellent and extremely friendly! He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Very attentive and great with food and drink recommendations. The food was delicious. I recommend the pasta and risotto. The ambiance is lovely. Restaurant is right on the water with a great view.

From the minute we stepped out of the car until the moment we reluctantly had to leave, the service is warm and impeccable. We were there to watch the Tour Of France stage that ended in Megeve. We needed to get to the bus stop before 1:30 PM to catch the bus to the finish line so the staff (this includes their General Manager) drove us in golf carts to make sure we didn’t miss the bus-this is service at the highest level.The hotel is beautiful and the views of the valley and mountains are breathtaking. This is perfection !

It was our fourth FS hotel in the last nine months so we could have a nice comparison. The front desk team at this hotel was exceptional. The concierge also has been very helpful for all the logistics of our stay. Despite the high season and a full hotel, the shuttle service (with always brand new and clean cars) was always available it was available very promptly. This made us feel like we stayed at a ski in ski out hotel. The room was very comfortable and the premises were very cosy. Highly recommended!

I checked in today at this -so called- Four Seasons hotel. The experience so far is very unpleasant and definitely not as planned. I made my reservation for 3 Gentiane type rooms 2 months in advance which I also prepaid in full. I specifically requested and the hotel confirmed that all three rooms would be in the main building. As soon as we arrived the hotel informed us that the 3 rooms will be in a chalet located 5 minutes away from the main building. Of course we refused to accept that but they informed us -more or less- that the reservation is already prepaid and we dont have any other option. After long discussions with the font desk representative and after demanding to speak with the manager, they put him over the phone. He was very rude and he was not present in the hotel. After extreme pressure on my side he admitted that there is availability in the main building but they are expecting a last-minute reservation tomorrow(!). That was at least outrageous and he promised to call me back asap to figure out a solution. Its 19:00 at the moment and I am still waiting.. Apart from that, the rooms they gave us are lacking the luxury of heating. As soon as we walked in we informed the front desk and they sent a representative to fix it. Still, the room is extremely cold and they told us that there is nothing that can be done. Instead they offere a portable air heater 😂 as you can see in the picture attached. Keep in mind that the outside temp is -2 at the moment. I wonder whats happening when ist -10 outside. Moreover, the shuttle service is terrible. They left us freezing in the city center for over 20 minutes, even though they confirmed our pickup via sms. Overall, the hotel is poorly managed and definitely not up to Four Seasons standards. If the room is not located in the main building, you have to walk 5-10 minutes in the freezing cold to get to the spa,swimming pool and breakfast area 😂. Avoid!
