Strathisla Tea Estate Bungalow

This is a nice old estate house but needs some urgent renovation in some aspects to the accommodation. My advice is not to use Google maps to go here as it would take one through an almost unnavigable road for a short distance. Moorthy the house keeper was always available & extremely helpful-a definite asset to Strathisla

What a magical place, I can’t describe how beautiful it is, nor can I describe the lovely service we had from jayko, best small hotel we have stayed at in this beautiful country, I would recommend it to my best friends xxx

If you love nature and want to spend a splendid holiday with some amazing people, this is the place. I loved every moment I spent here. Food, environment, nature and Velvet the pet were very unique.

This was the highlight of our trip! This colonial bungalow is set in the hills of the tea plantation area of the country, and the views are simply beautiful. It is located up a steep and narrow road, and the actual driveway is an unmade track which at first appears to treacherous to be safely travelled by motor vehicle ; our experienced driver was initially unwilling to take us down it! However,please persevere; it is well worth the effort! The house itself is full of character and the colonial feel has been preserved. However it is the staff and the view that make this a great place to visit. Our host was a wonderful man called Moorthy; he could not do enough to please us. He was almost like a friend by the time we left, and insisted on us all having photos taken together. The food was excellent, prepared by the talented Mr Mohan! A young lad, Prasadh, took us on a a walk around the village, and this was a highlight of our trip. The local people were all really friendly and welcoming, despite having very little in the way of possessions and wealth. Prasadh knows all the local flora really well. However, I should state that the walk was neither short nor flat, as Moorthy had described it to us! There is so much more that I could say about this place, but suffice it to say, we will definitely return there as soon as we can! A real gem!

A gorgeous former tea estate mansion. Felt like a private villa escape; gorgeous building; large bedrooms and an amazing pool. All set in a picture postcard setting of paradise. The house is set on a hill with tea plantations and herbs and fruits growing all around the hill sides. The staff here are great. The chef makes the best breastfasts (including lots of options for fussy Western kids). The evening meals are a full banquet with your table being coveted in different bowls of gorgeous food. I would recommend this escape to anyone; very easy to loose yourself with the tranquil sound of the birds amd the visual sights of paradise.

This is not a "classic" hotel. Due to these uncertain times we had the beautiful colonial house for ourselves. Big rooms, high ceilings, old wooden floors and verandah, filled with history, a tropical garden. Long interesting talks with Jko and caring staff. Delicious breakfasts and dinners. Long walks in the countryside with exchanges on botanics. Thank you so much to all of you!
