소크라테스 호텔(Socrates Hotel Malia Beach)

Ideally located near the Malia town centre, about a 10 to 15min walk, but in a very quiet neighbourhood. The beach is very nearby and less than a ten minute walk. There are loads of shops and restaurants very close to the hotel and a short walk away. During our stay of two weeks, the hotel was very clean with towels and sheets changed regularly. The breakfast was a brilliant buffet with a wide selection that should satisfy everyone. Breakfast includes some Greek treats, continental and English breakfast. We found eating breakfast at the pool bar very relaxing. The pool bar also makes some very impressive lunch and I would highly recommend trying something. Between our party we tried most of the menu and were never disappointed. My favourite being the Cretan salad. Portions are also very generous! The pool was beautiful and even though I prefer a swim in the sea I was too tempted and landed up having a swim every evening. The pool never felt overcrowded and there were always load of loungers spare. The thing that stood out for us the most was the staff. They were extremely welcoming and helpful, nothing was too difficult. From advice of where to go (attractions, car hire, etc.) to providing a very personal service. Always friendly and a smile on their face. This level of service made the stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Will definitely stay at Socrates again if I return to Crete!

Stayed here for 8 nights with my husband and son. The superior triple Room was basic and unfussy, comfy, practical and very clean. Balcony, great view and a lovely place to sit when the sun goes down, airers provided to hang your wet towels etc. Owners and staff extremely helpful and provide excellent customer service, nothing is too much trouble. Pool and bar and gardens very pretty, relaxing and a calming environment, a little oasis in the busy surrounding town of Malia. Breakfast was amazing, every choice including bacon and egg, this is very popular and eaten poolside, very popular and again nothing to much trouble. Thank you Socrates for making our holiday so special.

The hotel is located in the tourisic place of Malia. In general the site is ok, breakfast average. No permanently staffed front desk. Ok for the money and a brief stop

We stayed at Socrates Hotel as a group of 4 girls, and we booked a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was fairly basic but had everything we needed and we even got 2 balconies! The breakfast was nice and there were lots of options. The pool is lovely and there are plenty of comfortable sun loungers. All the staff were very friendly and so helpful. It was our first time in Malia and we had the best time, the beach and ***** are about a 10-15 minute walk which was fine. Malia is definitely a great place for girls / lads holidays and we would definitely come back, and to Socrates too.

I spent a week here the resort is small but very well kept . Everything was spotless and clean. The rooms were big 3 beds and kitchenette area and table and chairs . Also air con in all rooms . Very comfortable sun loungers around the pool. Fantastic value for money as breakfast is free . There was a choice of continental breakfast or eggs bacon beans mushrooms bread you toast yourself and a selection of cereals pastries donuts . All the staff are amazing and so helpful especially Claudia on reception and Stavros in the pool bar/restaurant area .

Stayed here for a week, had a lovely welcome and very friendly and helpful staff. On arrival were offered help with excursions/rental cars etc but no pushing for a sale. Rooms cleaned daily. Separate towels provided for the pool and beach. Lovely room with good air conditioning. Good atmosphere and suitable for families/couples/small groups. Good range of food and drink available at the bar with breakfast every morning. Lovely pool. Really enjoyed our stay here.

This is our last day after spending 14 days at this amazing hotel(we really do not want to leave). This family run hotel is the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries. We have stayed in many hotels in many countries but this one has exceeded them all. All the staff involved in the running of this family business are so friendly and helpful they make you feel like part of the family. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to relax and feel special. Keep up the good work Socrates. This house is a 10 minute walk from downtonw Malia, where all the bars and restaurants are located. Our room was nice with 2 balconies. Breakfast was ok, quite simple however, coffee was unfortunately very bad. The biggest asset are all the staff members which were all very helpful and friendly. Another small negative point : when getting out the bathroom, there is a little step and floor is very slippery.
