마리아 루세(Maria Rousse)

Very nice grounds and well kept. The first room we stayed in was small with a view of the car park. Fortunately George kindly moved us to a better room with a seaview after a couple of days. When booking we were not informed by Jet2 that there was a choice of room standard. The bar staff were very friendly Maria and Harris especially. We did have to ask for some toilet roll as our room wasn't cleaned after 3 days and it was only cleaned 3 times during our stay. Extra charge for air con and safe adds up also. If you're staying late on departure day and don't have your room, keep hold of a towel as they won't provide any for a shower. Food was average at best. Decent location and generally clean.

Gorgeous hotel not far from the main ***** in Malia. We went second week of May so it wasn't too busy and stayed bed and breakfast. There was a good choice of breakfasts and if you are self catering you can get a full English at the pool bar as well as other snacks. There are 2 pools and 2 bars - we favoured the bottom pool area. Hotel is family run and they are all really lovely and friendly as are all the other staff. We found our room always spotless and the hotel is always really clean. We will definitely stay here again and found no faults at all :)

The staff are always helpful and amazing particularly maria in the bar who was really professional with a very difficult guest who was very rude and she remained polite and helpful despite him being very agitated and nasty to her, I highly recommend this hotel

I went to this hotel with my friends it was terrible the person who owned the hotel is a very horrible person he was rude to me and my friends as soon as we go there, just because we was a group of lads. I would not recommend staying here at all nothing good about it and they also had are id for 3 days which just did not sit right with me. Also they did not clean my room everyday. just not a good hotel

Absolutely loved our time here. Everywhere was spotless and customer service was spot on. Breakfast was plentiful and we were greeted every morning with a very warm welcome. I’m vegetarian so didn’t eat the bacon or little sausages but they looked nice enough. Pool area was really great, sun beds were pretty spaced out but can’t say if this would be the case in the height of summer. For the life of me I can’t remember the bar tender’s name but he was always very cheerful and good for a bit of banter. Our studio room was perfectly functional although the beds weren’t the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in. Paid for aircon but could possibly have got away without it as it cooled down at night as we were here late Sep/early Oct. It was close to all the restaurants in Old Malia town and we finished the evenings off with a couple of drinks in the bar, again great service and a nice atmosphere. Nice little hotel. Not entirely wheelchair friendly. Some parts where not accessible for my partner who is in a wheelchair. We visited for 10 days on a half board basis. The food did become a bit same old after a week. But overall good value for money. If you want air-conditioning in your room you have to pay extra for that. The male waiter is a lovely man who is very friendly. Always welcoming

It is our last day after a 10 day stay and this place is fantastic. The hotel is immaculate and the landscaping is beautiful. It is so clean, I struggle to pinpoint anything wrong with this place. The staff are lovely, and the food is amazing (and very well priced). If I did have to complain about anything, it would be that the mattress was quite hard (but got used to it as the week went on). This is no reflection on the hotel, but just to note that the surrounding town of Malia is quite busy. There is 'the *****' on your left (which is full of clubs, shops, bars with a 20 min walk to the beach. The hotels have taken up all the narrow beach space with deckchairs). We spent most of our time exploring the old town, which is beautiful and has many hidden gems for pubs and restaurants. There is also a regular bus which passes through the town if you want to explore further.

The Maria Rousse was booked as a weeks accommodation in Malia, whereby we wanted to be between the Old Town and the main *****. Absolutely perfect location, right on the corner of both, where they both met. The hotel is immaculate and provides a high standard of self catering style apartments set around 2 pools. Lovely atmosphere and chilled music played all day. 2 small bars poolside for snacks and drinks, a pool table, lovely sunloungers and plenty of space to sunbathe. The are quite a few rooms, but the best ones which you can pay for/upgrade to upon arrival are the pool view, ground floor apartments which we really enjoyed. Rooms equipped with the usual fridge, toaster, kettle, hob and glasses cups etc. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed at Maria Rousse from 17th sept for 10 days and were half board. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. George and Barbara were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely and there was plenty of choice for the amount of time we stayed. Breakfast was buffet style but was constantly topped up and was definitely fresh produce. I was addicted to the Greek yoghurt with honey and Granola lol. If you want to know where to visit any of the staff are happy to help. We went to the museum in Heraklion on Barbara’s advice and are glad we did. We took the bus as well which is really easy to do and was only €7,60 for the two of us. We also had a fantastic meal in old town Malia at odas taverna thanks to a recommendation from a member of staff. All in all we had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning at some point.
