Only went for restaurant as staying elsewhere. Had lunch. Extremely reasonable prices. Good choice. Our meals were excellent, and big portions for what we paid. Very good service. We had been walking from Maro to Torre de Maro, and felt that if you stayed in this hotel a car may be necessary though buses run from very close by.

Very basic place but for the money I really couldn’t complain…. If you stay here your definitely best to have a car to get to the beach, town etc as it’s quiet a distance if your walking … Air conditioning worked great, bed nice and comfortable and the room was also spacious. We chose not to eat in the hotel as the breakfast was basic ham, cheese, bread etc All in all worth it for the price.

I did not like the staff. Some of them seemed very unfriendly and lazy! The bathroom in the room was awful. Shower and dryer didn’t work properly. The shower seemed dirty too. The location was awful! At least an hour of walking until you reach centrum of Nerja. The beds must be made out of stone, definitely the worst bed I’ve ever experienced. The lunch on the hotel was good and the balcony was nice tho

Visited for dinner as a family of eight as we were staying in a villa nearby. It was very quiet, never a good sign. Waitress was a bit difficult arranging us to sit together, and there was no drinks menu which made ordering quite tricky with the language barrier. Three of us ordered the Cordon Bleu which was the first dish to arrive out. All three were completely raw inside the breadcrumbs, could have made us so ill and ruined our holiday. It's only by the luck of me needing to cut my young children's food for them that we noticed before anyone ate. We immediately made to leave, said we would pay for the drinks but would not be staying to eat and refused to pay for the meals. They threatened to call the police, became very aggressive while on the phone to the manager. Eventually we were able to pay for just the drinks and left. We will not return and will warn anyone away from here! Shockingly bad. Avoid!

We had been promising ourselves a visit to the stunning Nerja caves for several years and eventually decided on the Hotel Al-Andalus as our base. This 3* Hotel is perfectly located for such a visit, being only a 5 minute walk from the Cave's entrance (it's wise to pre-book entry online), and it's conveniently close to the (shielded) motorway, although this results in some traffic noise. Guests wishing to visit the main part of town/Balcon de Europa should note that it is c.10/15 minutes by car. The Hotel has ample free parking, a pool, a sizeable restaurant/bar with reasonable prices and a very welcome terrace. Our room was simply decorated, but spacious with a balcony and facilities were adequate for a short-stay. A buffet breakfast was included with our tariff and, although the selection was fairly limited, it was pleasant to eat outside on the terrace. In summary, an enjoyable experience which I would totally recommend for those intending to visit the Caves. However, it is too far from the main town to be convenient for those primarily intending to visit the beach or the numerous bars, shops and restaurants in the centre.

The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the caves and has ample free parking, although it's about a 15 minute drive from the town centre (Euros 10 by taxi each way). There is a good restaurant and large bar with a terrace and a swimming pool when weather permits. The room was simply furnished, but quite large, and equipped with a TV and refrigerator, although it lacked a room-safe and we had problems with the aircon, which could be an issue in summer. The hotel is nearby the motorway, so traffic noise may be an issue. Staff were friendly and helpful. A very good value hotel and highly recommended for those visiting the caves, although not convenient for the town centre/seafront.

Of all the hotels in the Nerja/Maro area, Hotel Al Andalus remains my favourite. It's friendly, a good price, very clean, comfortable, and with nice large bath towels. As a female solo traveller safety is a priority and this hotel ticks all my boxes. Not to be missed is the dining experience. Menu of the day for lunch, or a la carte menu for dinner. Both reasonably priced. In the warm westher the outside patio is so pretty with mountain views in one direction and seaview in the other. This trip was no exception and i dined outside in the early evening enjoying one of the BEST fish soups i have ever tasted, followed by cod Mediterranean style. Both dishes were delicious. Compliments to the chef! Parking is in front of the hotel and is free and private. I left very early so had no opportunity to enjoy the breakfast, but from previous experience can attest to it's deliciousness. I look forward to my next visit.

I recently stayed for 2 nights at the Hotel Al-Andalus, located in Maro, just outside Nerja, Spain. I needed to have a pre-flight PCR test in Nerja, so this seemed like a good opportunity to return to my favourite hotel in the area. With many hotels to choose from, I return again and again to the Al-Andalus. No matter the season, the hotel is welcoming. I had a beautiful room/suite with an outside space to sit and enjoy the sun whilst reading a book. The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet, and the shower was powerful. It was exceptionally clean. The menu of the day is spectacular. Excellent food, and great choices. In the summer there is a wonderful front terrace to sit and eat, with views of the mountains behind. In the winter, the restaurant inside is cosy. The staff makes an excellent effort to speak some English. During my 2 day trip, I went to visit the Nerja caves. SPECTACULAR! It has been on my list of things to do for ages and did not disappoint. The caves are literally a 5-minute walk from the hotel. I simply left my car in the hotel car park, which is free to guests. All in all, I shall look forward to returning again very soon. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Close to the caves this is a pleasant hotel with friendly staff The rooms are of an adequate size and clean.Pleasant outdoor area to eat and drink There are some nice views out to sea. The food was of a good standard and portions were very generous
