John's Highland Comfort (Guest House)

What a hidden gem! Superb, family-run guest house in village setting, with several great restaurants nearby and a short walk to a gorgeous beach. Several local shops too. Air-con, with-fi, big bed, fab shower, tea/coffee/kettle, big fridge, balcony - and all at a ridiculously affordable rate! Owners/hosts Judy and John could not have been more friendly and accommodating, adding to an already-perfect stay. This guest house was recommended by friends - we were sceptical, as we have been ‘5-star’ people in the past, but this experience has transformed how we will approach travel in future. And we will definitely be back! Thank you for the most wonderful stay.

Our second stay with Judy and John and hopefully not our last . In a quiet setting but near to restaurants shops and a ten minute stroll to the beach made it an ideal location. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and made us feel really at home. Our room was spacious with a lovely bathroom a bed to die for and a great balcony overlooking the gardens and fields beyond. Rooms were cleaned everyday and there was an added bonus of a fridge that was kept stocked with water , beer and soft drinks at a very reasonable price. There is a kettle with tea and coffee ( complimentary ) in the room and the use of a kitchen and washing machine in the communal area. One of our best stays on this years trip, Thank you both for making us so welcome .

Excellent guest house, John and Judy really looked after us very well indeed. nothing was to much trouble. They even arranged for my wife to have a scan on her hip in Margoa. Room was large and comfortable, TV, Kettle, Fridge & Aircon .A really cheap mini bar. Lovely wet room with shower and toilet. large balcony,Plus a laundry room on the ground floor. Room was cleaned daily. All this at a bargain price. Great Value. we will be back!! for more happy sunny days in Majorda South Goa.

Returned to Majorda for the first time in three years and stayed again at John Highland Comfort. Again the welcome was lovely and we stayed in one of the new rooms that were not there the last we visited. These are large comfortable rooms with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Comfy large bed , AC , terrace looking out to the forest beyond , Fridge regularly stocked with water and beers. Great bathroom and shower and WIFI. Position is in the center of the small and quiet village and easy stroll to some very nice restaurants and a 20 minute walk down to the fabulous beach and shacks. If this is to much Judy / John and Joseph will arrange to take you in their taxi service. We cannot recommend this highly enough and friends are visiting in April and we have already pre booked for Christmas once more.

We stayed in a junior suite room situated on the first floor. The room had a large balcony facing north east and overlooking paddy fields and forest. The balcony had a table and two chairs and was ideal for wildlife spotting in the morning with the sun coming up and drinks in the evening as the sun sets. The room was well equipped with a large fridge including freezer, a lounge area with sofa and coffee table, a large double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, dressing table with mirror and a large bathroom with walk in shower and a good mirror over the sink. Plenty of storage space is provided in a fitted wardrobe which also includes a safe. The room has air conditioning and a ceiling fan both of which worked well. There were lots of plug sockets for electrical items and a usb socket to charge a phone etc. Judy was a great host and helped us hire a scooter for the duration of our stay and a taxi for our return to the airport for our journey home. Judy and her family were always on hand to help and answer any questions we had or suggest places to visit etc. There is plenty to do in the area. The closest beach is a 15-20 minute walk and easily accessible with beach shacks. There are several restaurants nearby. Camron is the closest. Just up the road is a great café called ‘Sabinas’ which was perfect for breakfast and bakery items. Local shops include Be Happy Tailors, jewellers, carpet shop, Ayurvedic massage, hairdresser, dentist, fruit and veg stall, wine shops and a couple of well stocked mini supermarkets (pic’n’pay)

We were a family of 5. We had 2 interconnected rooms. Right from the checkin to checkout everything was seamless. Let me detail this out. 1. BEAUTIFUL: For us who come from concrete jungles this place is heavenly. Green,Clean and peaceful. 2. The rooms have a double bed or 2single beds and a sofa bed that can comfortably accommodate 4people, there is a fridge (has beer, water and soft drink all payable) , kettle, smart TV and wifi, wardrobe, safe, dressing table, study table and chair. Clean bathroom with towels and toiletries. The common area has a fully operational kitchen and laundry. The kitchen includes crockery, appliances and vessels that would be required if you intend cooking. We made our breakfast.( your own groceries). Rooms cleaned daily. 3. The location is just perfect, Martins, Camaron and ***y other restaurants very close. Grocery stores at 5min walking distance. 4.They have cars and arrange for reasonably priced drops and pickup. 5. Judy,John the entire family were an excellent host. 100% will be my stay choice always.

The room was clean and comfortable. It was great to have washing facilities too. The walk to the beach is only 10-15 minutes away and it is a very lovely beach. So relaxing. We enjoyed a meal at Nanglo’s and Alex’s Place on the beach was lovely but we wouldn’t particularly recommend Camran’s. The local bus to Betalbutin is worth doing, had a lovely breakfast in a cafe there. Jody and her son were helpful in suggesting options for travel to Gokarna.

Well what a fantastic place been here a few times now and would well recommend it the owner Jody is great thank you for the restaurant recommendation great meals looking forward to coming back hopefully in the new year again once again thanks for helping to make our holiday great

Great place to stay, very clean, staff very friendly. John and Judy very kind and helpful. Small walking distance to beautiful beaches, bars and restaurants close. ***y taxis available if wishing to travel further. Definitely stay again
