Excellent hotel in Salamanca district. I've stayed here several times and have been extremely satisfied each time. The hotel is in a quiet location in the Salamanca district, with only a five minute walk to a major transportation center, the Intercambiador Avda de Americas, which has multiple bus lines and several subway lines. You can take the #200 bus from the airport and get to your hotel very easily. The surrounding area is full of restaurants and small shops, as well as a large supermarket next door to the hotel. It's a pleasant walk to the Prado/Retiro Park area, as well as to very upscale shopping, or you can easily take a bus to those areas. The hotel itself is relatively modern, more like a business hotel than a luxury or tourist hotel. The rooms are relatively large and well decorated, exceptionally clean. We stayed in a top floor room with a balcony facing an interior courtyard. The room, while well-maintained, could use some touching-up. A plus is that it was exceptionally quiet with very comfortable beds and strong air conditioning that kept pace with 40C outside temperatures. Storage space was more than sufficient in closets and cabinets, although the lack of drawers on bedside tables made for a bit of crowding. The front office staff were exceptionally pleasant and accommodating (and spoke English fluently). Breakfasts were excellent. Unless you crave luxury hotels, crowds and rowdy nighttime celebrants, this is a much better place to stay to visit Madrid than in the more central tourist hotels.
