MHL - 메종 호텔 리옹(Mhl - Maison Hotel Lyon)

This charming small apartment hotel was part of the reason I’ve been totally smitten by Lyon. After being shown to my suite by Paula I was then greeted warmly by Claire a couple of hours later. After a very long day travelling from Milan, it was a welcome introduction to the city, as Claire pointed out all the local places that might be useful as well as how to get around the city. She highly recommended using the metro – and wasn’t wrong. With Foch station just moments away, it’s a great way to get around if you want to go a little further than walking can comfortably take you. When I first walked into my suite (the Seve apartment), it was like I’d stepped into the France of my imagination. It’s beautifully decorated, overlooking a delightful courtyard, was spotlessly clean and had a kitchenette, well appointed bathroom with a deep bath and best of all, a really comfy bed. The apartment is perfectly located, with a fabulous boulangerie right next door, along with a fromagerie and a place that sells take home meals just down the street. I made use of them all! There are also neighbourhood bars and restaurants that have local vibes and better food than the heavily touristed spots across the river, as they’re not just catering for tourists, but for a local market. It’s just a short stroll across the Rhone from the old town part of the city, but that’s a blessing. While Lyon is mostly easy to walk just about everywhere, thankfully it’s easy to get up the hills by funicular and a line that takes you to the heart of Croix Rousse. I spent five nights here as a solo traveller and am so glad I chose here to stay. My only - and minor - gripe is that there are no basic amenities on arrival so you need to go and get these yourself. The addition of some milk in the fridge and washing liquid for the washing machine would be nice. There were a few pods for the coffee machine, but I also ended up buying more. Despite this small inconvenience, I’d recommend MHL Hotel Lyon highly if you want to base yourself in a local area away from tourist crowds where you can feel what it’s like to live in this lovely city.

Excellent location. Close to transport, the old town, shopping, cafes, supermarket. The room was modern, comfortable and spacious. Very clean and access via a courtyard. Very quiet and our host Julie was gracious and could not do enough to assist us with any questions. Highly recommend for a trip to Lyon.

Suburb accommodation in the heart of Lyon. Very comfortable, quiet and well equipped. A very knowledgeable and friendly host, Julie, who helped us enjoy our stay. Julie provided considerable information which enabled us to have an easy fun time in Lyon. Very highly recommended.

Beautifully quaint suite. Plenty of room for the 4 of us that went. The kitchen was as much if not more than was required, we ate in most days and used the kitchen for cooking our meals. The bathrooms were lovingly laid out. Unfortunately could not utilise the courtyard due to weather but If we had gone later in the year then I am sure we would of sat in the courtyard enjoying a glass of wine.

We had a very good week in the « Suite Le Vendôme », very close to the Metro station , and C4 line . The neighborhood was classy and full of amenities. The appartement was spacious and super well equipped and was exactly like the photos The only negative point was the lack of Air condition, in a hot week of June, that was managed by opening the windows and using the fan.

We absolutely loved this hotel. It was a perfect location, peaceful, had great amenities, and an incredibly kind and helpful staff. We will stay here again any time we are in Lyon, and we will recommend this place to family and friends!

We stayed 5 nights in the apartment, we enjoyed the personal and pampering treatment of Jean who did everything in his power to please our guests. The apartment is comfortable and equipped with everything needed and there is no doubt that we would be happy to come again

The location was brilliant, the apartment was exceptional, the furniture was gorgeous, the host was extremely helpful with lots of information about local shops, restaurants and sights. We travelled as a family and it was perfect for 3 people.

We spent six nights here in the lovely le Saxe studio apartment and it was the perfect base for exploring Lyon and surrounds. A real home in a gated community in the heart of the elegant 6th district, with its own private external entrance off a communal courtyard. The apartment was immaculate and so thoughtfully set out, being decorated to keep the ambience of a beautiful older period home whilst providing every modern convenience including fast Internet and quality appliances. We appreciated the washing machine and a large drying rack which meant we left for our next destination with all clean clothes. Nice bakery next door and supermarket 3-4 minute walk away made self catering easy, and we enjoyed dining both inside the apartment and al fresco in the courtyard. Metro station a 2-3 minute walk making it easy to get around. Jean-Charles was a wonderful host, so kind and welcoming and made us feel that this really was our home for the duration of our stay. He met us on arrival, took time to show us around and had heaps of good suggestions. He gave us privacy but at the same time made it clear that he was available to help in any way should we need it. We left Lyon feeling we had made a friend.
