Delightful dog-friendly stay at a lovely boutique hotel. Great location for touring Dorset and East Devon. Lovely comfortable bedroom, great breakfast and first class service. Highly recommend and would certainly stay here again. Thank you!

We stayed at the Dower House for 3 nights. A beautiful house with an interior style to match. We booked in the French Lieutenant's suite, the web pictures show the reality; spacious and comfortable. All at the hotel were genuinely friendly and helpful. Particularly in booking restaurants and taxis on request. They were knowledgable about walking opportunities. Breakfast, something close to my heart, used excellent ingredients, prepared well and delivered with tip top service. Hope to find an excuse to visit the area again soon and will stay there again. One extra insight that might be helpful – the drive access, well signposted, is on the main road. Our satnav sent us around the back.

Wow! What can we say? We all had the most fantastic time here. Neil and Rosemarie and the perfect hosts and our stay was fabulous. The room we stayed in was just wonderful (best bath ever), and the whole hotel was incredible. We enjoyed a very relaxing time with our little boy who very much enjoyed meeting the wonderful Great Danes and other guests' doggies. It was extra special as I went to a nearby school and it was great to learn more from Neil about the history of the building. Thank you so much, we all had such a brilliant time and we can't wait to return.

It is not a Hotel as no bar or dining room nor is it in Lyme Regis. The couple who run it are polite albeit the woman appeared disgruntled. Rooms are small and the breakfast was acceptable jolly long walk to Dorset as its in Devon.

The proprietors were exceptionally welcoming and could not have been more helpful to ensure that our 2 night stay was a real pleasure. The public rooms and our bedroom/en suite facilities were flawless combined with real flair in the decor.

Fantastic place to stay, Neil, Rosemarie and all the staff are so welcoming. A good choice and quality of breakfast which was cooked only once you ordered and therefore was lovely and hot (so many hotels end up with warm breakfasts). We have already recommended to several friends!

Visited Easter Sunday for 3 nights.. With a nod to Craig Revel Horwood.. Fab-Ew-Lous!!..6⭐. And so to the detail.. Lovely house and friendly owner. There it begins to unwind. The room was very nice BUT the heating is broken so instead of having 4 nice radiators pumping out some heat we had one small electric oil filled radiator. So yes the room was cold. Went downstairs to have a sandwich. I had one round of cheese and my wife had a round of cheese and pickle. We also had a few crisps sprinkled on the side. We had to leave a day early as my wife wasn’t feeling too well so I just paid the bill without looking. BIG MISTAKE. We were charged £12 for the plain cheese sandwich. Oh that’s £12 each so the total food bill was a mighty £24!! Before posting this review I emailed the hotel as I think there must have been a mistake. But to date (2 days later) I haven’t even received the courtesy of a reply. You won’t get fat on the breakfast either. Tasty yes. Portions small. A side order of toast for 2 people was one slice cut in half. Maybe this bread is made with gold dust. Would I return. No.

Beautiful from start to finish!! Neil and Rosemarie are absolutely amazing hosts from the moment you walk through the door on arrival to the moment you leave! As a fellow housekeeper myself The rooms are stunningly clean and smelt lovely and fresh, The bed was lovely and comfortable, everything was buffed up and shining. Attention to detail was 10/10 little shower gels , shampoo and conditioner not to mention the coffee machine which was taken full advantage of. The fresh milk outside your door was a fantastic touch. quiet bar area, the ground of the house is breathtakingly beautiful with very interesting history. The breakfast was delicious, everything was cooked perfectly and you wasn’t waiting long at all. We would 100% recommend and We are 100% coming back to visit. Thank you so much for having us.
