더 엔젤 호텔(The Angel Hotel)

Gone downhill, been here a few times and had a pleasant lunch as it’s a nice venue. But they’ve changed the menu for lunch, breakfast until later but the lunch food, basically fish and chips or ham egg and chips. Caesar salad no meat as such, no pies, the ham, egg and chips, very average and the fish over cooked. Sad as used to enjoy using this as an alternative venue. Need to up your game.

I have not eaten here for over 20 years and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was and service. An interesting if slightly brief menu but the food was of a high standard. The only downside were the most uncomfortable chairs I have sat on for a long time. We tried three different ones and either sagged or were just a board. A bit of investment required here.

We popped in for coffee and it was surprisingly welcoming. Very comfortable seating and lovely staff. We haven't stayed here or had a meal yet but we will be going for Sunday lunch. We might go for lunch during the week as it has a good variable menu.

Stayed for a quick overnight break, Lovely little town location but some improvements really needed Room really warm, big crack in bath, bit gutted the pub stops serving food at 7.30 Not the best sleep with alarms going off Breakfast was really tasty and lovely quality but some fruit and maybe yogurt would be nice

Visited The Angel for lunch recently. There was a warm greeting and the atmosphere was good. Service was prompt and efficient. I ordered the fish finger sandwich with a side of chips. There was only white bread available which was not ideal but it arrived quickly and was nicely presented. The chips were delicious but the sandwich was very disappointing. There was hardly any fish? It was mainly fried batter and very greasy and the bread was very thin 😒 such a shame. Would return with the hope that the experience is improved.

Very satisfied with the room and it's facilities. The noise in the courtyard after 11.30 was disturbing as a lone pensioner. It seemed to go on for a long time. The remains of a take away meal this morning seemed to tell the story. Is this courtyard locked or is it available to any passer by looking for somewhere to sit to eat? At £14 the breakfast offered is vastly overpriced. I had streaky bacon, a large mushroom a d poached eggs with a huge slice of bread. One cup of coffee with no-one about to offer a second cup or to ask whether everything was satisfactory.

No heating in the room at all, this following same problem last week for my stay at these premises! Reported to staff that assured me problem had been fixed, plainly not!! this together with being charged £14 for breakfast...not good!

2nd stay at the Angel I would stay nowhere else!!!(in that area!)Great accommodation, proffessional , clean,comfortable, absolutely nothing was too much trouble!! Great food!!! We had booked very last minute to stay here (10.00 the night before arrival) by 5.00 the following morning my partner has COVID . They refused to cancel the booking or transfer it into someone else's name. The booking is for this evening so we have decided to go with COVID to save wasting 60.00 !!
