I stayed here because it was close to the hospital—. My husband was there for orthopedic surgery. We were Americans on a river cruise when he broke his femur in Speyer and eventually got moved to the hospital in Ludwigshafen. It was a bad situation for my husband at the hospital in Speyer and I was extremely stressed and worn down by the time he was transferred to Ludwigshafen. So I was not at the Gartenstadt for happy reasons and I ended up staying there almost a month. First, the people who own and run the hotel could not possibly have been kinder or more helpful. The is a family run business that has been in this family for many years and clearly they care about their reputation and also enjoy making people feel comfortable. Now that I have been back in the US for a few weeks, I am still overwhelmed thinking about their kindness. They really helped me feel less lost and that there were kind people in the world. The hotel is basic— everything worked great, the bed was comfortable, I always had hot water, the room was quiet at night. There was a good buffet breakfast every morning. The hotel also had a lovely dining room with very good food—. It was open for dinner, Monday through Thursday. Ludwigshafen is a corporate town—the guests are mostly traveling on business or on weekends, traveling to see family. There is a very limited downtown (with a lovely independent bookstore). If I ever had to travel to this part of the world again, hopefully for less stressful reasons, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel is clean and the staff we encountered was friendly. The breakfast buffet looked sufficiently stocked for meat/dairy eaters. We, as Vegans, had limited options, but we are used to it. The service staff did offer Oar Milk, therefore I was able to drink a cappuccino, which was much appreciated! Parking was free and available in an underground garage and in front of the facility. The room had a good size (deluxe room reservation) and again, was clean. Shower water pressure was good, the bed was our only complaint during our stay. The mattress in our room was no longer good and, in our opinion, should be replaced. My wife called it “demonic”. Neither one of us had much sleep. Unfortunately, the main reason to stay at a hotel is to sleep away from home, I cannot provide the highest rating, however, the cleanliness, the facility itself and the friendliness of the staff deserves their credit.

We had one night at the Gartenstadt Hotel. It was clean, well decorated, well maintained and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is convenient. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you have a plan to stay in the area. Breakfast was excellent, nice selection and again, the staff was awesome!

We kwamen laat in de avond aan. We konden nog terecht in het restaurant. We hebben voor een zeer schappelijke prijs nog lekker kunnen eten. Kamers zijn aan de kleine kant, maar alles is aanwezig. Een klein onvoorzien probleem op de kamer werd perfect opgelost. We zullen hier graag weer eens logeren.

Wir hatten das Zimmer für 2 Nächte in Dezember gebucht. An einem kalten Wochenende hatten wir wegen einer Störung 1 Tag lang nur kaltes Wasser und kalte Heizkörper. Trotzdem wurde uns kein Rabatt oder Gutschein angeboten, da die Rechnung online über ******* bezahlt wurde. Als ich nachfragte, wurde ich gefragt, ob ich irgendwann wieder nach Ludwigshafen kommen würde, wenn ja, würde ich vielleicht einen Rabatt erhalten. Als ich um eine Rechnung bat, erhielt ich eine von einem Hotelangestellten, aber über einen Betrag von 30 Euro weniger. Die Besitzerin sagte später, dass ich gar keine Rechnung hätte erhalten dürfen, weil ich online bei *******.de bezahlt hatte. Dies war der einzige Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel und wird es auch so bleiben.
