We chose Hampton for New Year's weekend because it's away from the craziness of Cabo San Lucas and we weren't planning on spending much time in our room. The property is generally clean but in serious need of renovation, with visible stains on the lobby carpet, broken rooftop pool deck "cabana" furniture (incl. torn fabric privacy panels), and noticeable scuffs and dings on corridor walls. We asked to switch rooms the 2nd night because there was no fan in the bathroom and it smelled damp. Our 2nd room had the same issue plus a broken lamp, but we let it go because running the A/C on high made things bearable. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were surprisingly quiet, but as with the common areas the upholstery and shades had each seen better days. The free lobby breakfast each morning was decent, and having free underground parking was appreciated. The staff were absolutely lovely. And the location next to the Merkado food hall is very convenient - multiple fantastic options including ceviche, authentic street tacos, pizza, and Asian noodles and sushi. If you're looking for a full-service hotel with all the creature comforts, this definitely isn't it. But if you're on a budget and want a low-key place to stay, this has just enough things going for it to have been a decent trip.
