A great place to stay. Reasonably priced and excellent beer. Breakfast was great and the staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean. Plenty of parking and just across the road from the steam railway. The area has lots of waling, cycling etc.

We found this place by chance after spending our first night in the Forest of Dean in Cinderford, and decided to loose the money we had paid for a second night there after experiencing the far better service and standards at the Fountain. Staying at the Fountain was a complete contrast to the first accommodation, and we will definitely return to this friendly, well-run pub with rooms. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable - they have even written a book about the history of the building which they sell at the bar - we bought a copy and it was a fascinating read. The meals were very well prepared, served by friendly staff. The room was spotlessly clean, everything worked as it should - we were sorry to have only one night there. We will definitely return to the Forest of Dean, and we will make sure that we stay at the Fountain again.

Well appointed, warm room, cracking landlady, phenomenal beer - Severn cider and Wye Valley HPA in particular. Excellent food and service - breakfast especially so given the quality of the bacon and black pudding. A very busy and deservedly popular establishment.

Room was extremely comfortable. Food was superb. Steak cooked to perfection. Lots of varied menu choices for evening meals and breakfasts. Michelle and the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. I stay here regularly and would not dream of going anywhere else.

we have been to The Fountain many times and the food is always top. The service is five star . The staff are lovely and the food is Fab would recommend this to anyone best restaurants in the area.places like this is very hard to find , lovely part of the Forest .

Friendly welcome, spotless rooms, comforting food, local ales. This is perfect location for a group of MTB riders heading into the Forest of Dean. Secure cycle storage in the cellar. All the staff were great and couldn't do enough for you. We'll be back.
