Centrally located hotel, easily reached by foot within 5 mins from central train & bus stations. Friendly & helpful staff; spacious & clean double room, with a most comfortable bed. Although a phone and hair dryer were noted as being located in my room, I clearly noticed their absence. Luckily, I didn't require either during my stay. Tea/coffee making facilities were most welcome however. Good amount of wardrobe space, and my room was tastefully decorated in shades of green & cream (very relaxing tones, all in all). Fully functioning restaurant & bar on ground floor, and 2 suites on the 1st floor that cater to wedding receptions / conferences - again, highly appealing decor all throughout.

I stayed at this hotel in March, with a group of friends. We all agreed that the hotel was good, the staff very friendly and helpful. Maybe a slight problem with some of the plumbing, as in the rate of water from the showers. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was first class!

Hotel stunk of paint,no carpet on the stairs to the rooms only underlay(there was a lift),room smelt stale,no handles on drawers only bare screws crack in the sink, broken tiles, shower didn't work, paint and dirt on the bathroom door,hole in the wall next to the door. When we complained about the shower and the fact that we had driven 3 hours to get there and wanted to freshen up the receptionist said 'well you don't smell ',we asked to be moved to another room but there wasn't anything available. WILL NEVER RETURN I do have a video of the cracked sink, broken tiles and bathroom door but will not upload

No disabled toilets anywhere and no disabled access. Manager was just generally rude and keep to charge for things we hadn’t had. No wonder the place was empty. Food was average. Service staff were kind.

Went to the castle in merthyr one by the court the old guy who was on reception well where I do start not welcoming not friendly this words was bar shut in a nasty tone I fort it was a hotel not a let time hotel looks dirty I would never stay there and needs a friendly welcome I give it 0 stars the property needs updating bad and the old guy needs trading bad 10.august 2023 about 4 30
