뱅크턴 하우스 호텔(Bankton House)

A hidden gem in Livingston. High quality pub grub with friendly service. We made a night of it and had drinks in the cosy bar before moving through to the bistro for dinner. Both areas are welcoming and nicely decorated which gives a relaxed a**osphere. Honestly a great wee place.

Would not recommend. No one there to greet us and left alone in hotel at night, apart from other guests who were staying. Stains on bedding and no hot or cold food available on site apart from little goodie bag with. Bottle of juice and muffin (if I remember rightly). We didn’t feel safe during the night with there not being a member of staff present overnight as it’s in a dark secluded area. Will not stay there again as it was very expensive.

Rooms were quite tired, and the shower was freezing cold. So cold that I couldn’t use it and had to wash in the sink. Staff perfectly pleasant and a really nice period building.

We went here for Chris**as Eve family meal. The child in our party has a severe egg allergy. I wanted this area and contacted two or three places. This hotel’s response was very positive. Also there is an extensive bistro menu on offer as well as the festive menu. Some pizzas are egg-free - ideal for a child with this issue. They also have a vegan ice cream. Staff were attentive and pleasant, and certainly on the ball regarding the allergy. Hotel was nicely decorated for Chris**as. Food was very tasty. It is so close to Livingston Shopping Centre, worth a visit rather than the usual fast food outlets. Prices are very reasonable. Despite being tucked away it is easy to reach. We will certainly be back now we have found this gem!

We ate in the Bistro there was 12 of us aged between 6 months and 80 years old, the staff were super friendly, efficient and helpful the food was deliciously fantastic cannot recomend this place enough highly recommended

Me and my husband visited the Bankton House Bistro for our anniversary a couple of weeks ago and I had to write a review to say how consistently excellent the place is. We've been for a few evening meals before which were so well made and fresh. This time we visited at lunch time and once again, the food was just so good. It was fish and chips but I have to say it's one of the best I've had so far: the fish was fresh, flaky and perfectly cooked in a thin crispy batter, with chunky 'proper' chips and peas and tartar sauce. The other great thing is they offer small and large portions. I had the small portion which was big in itself - very generous. I followed this with a limoncello tartufo (ice cream bomb made from lemon ice cream with lemon curd in the middle and rolled in lemon meringue - just lovely. The a**osphere is so chilled out in the bistro (with the option of sitting in the cosy conservatory). They play easy going favourites and I could imagine it'll be lovely there at Chris**as to get you in the mood. We've visited the pub before in the hotel and it's a typical country-style cosy pub - all quirky niches and a log burner for the winter nights. Service excellent as always and good value for money. If you haven't been already, try it out, it feels like it's out of the way nestled in the woodland but is literally just across the road from Livi South train station.

We moved to the area in 2021 and could kick ourselves for not coming here sooner! Beautiful restaurant with stylish decor, chilled a**osphere and stunning woodland surroundings. The staff were so friendly, polite and helpful. We have two very young children and they offered crayons and paper and for their food to come out before ours. We could also take them to the garden out front where there's a little tree swing and plenty of room for them to run around safely while we waited on our food. The menu has something for everyone. I ordered the chicken balmoral which was delicious - best meal I've had in a while. Veg was cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing. The kids got macaroni and chips. The chips were next level - so hot, and crispy on outside and fluffy on inside. My husband ordered the Bankton burger which he loved too. The kids were a bit impatient so we weren't able to stay for dessert but there's always next time... It's a very short walk from livi south train station, Murieston trail and Bankton Park. I'm delighted to have this great venue as our local.

Lovely hotel or guest house (Only 4 rooms.) Good location for train station. Friendly staff, however room was not made up on first 2 days of our stay so had to mention to proprietor. Breakfast was not available until 10.30am which was too late for us. We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant however after being served drinks we were ignored for45 minutes and had to ask to order our food!

This is in the middle of a housing estate as seems to be the case with lots of visitor attractions too in the area Great for visiting Hopetoun Midhope Blackness Craigmillar Linlithgow The Kelpies and Falkirk wheel .... Comfortable clean hotel in lovely wooded area. Woke up to deer in the grounds.Staff were friendly but don't really listen to you if you comment negatively The hotel was still following " covid" protocol but they don't tell you this so room was not equipped for our 5 night stay and was not serviced which we didn't mind as don't need clean towels bed made etc BUT had to ask for the loo roll shower gel tea bags etc ps hate UHT milk! It just didn't quite get there even though the staff were nice there is just something lacking here Like pancakes with fruit for breakfast- they had no fruit even though there is a convenience store selling it 2 mins away and a supermarket 5 mins away And they are open as a bistro for breakfast lunch and dinner - It's not a budget hotel @ £145 per night so you expect them to have what's offered We did seem to be the only guests for most of our time there but there were lots of non residents coming In Evening meals we had twice were fine but again lacking ingredients listed on menu Train station only 2 mins away with easy access to Edinburgh much cheaper than the £4.75 ph car parking, so if you want somewhere as a base it's great but they just need more attention to details Would not rate it 4 star very good but it is better than a average 3 star
