Hôtel Le Cro-Magnon

We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay here in the Green Room which has its own private terrace, a super comfortable king sized bed and a big bathroom with a very nice walk in shower. It was clean, quiet, peaceful and charming. The owners had kindly reserved e-bikes for us, which would have been really convenient, but in the end the weather didn't cooperate so we didn't use them. Breakfast was delicious and included eggs made to order. The staff was so friendly and helpful, making dinner recommendations and reservations for us, and generally offering many sightseeing tips. When our train to Perigueux was canceled on a Sunday morning they even found a limo for us after having to make several calls. We are so glad we stayed here--it was wonderful!

We had booked a family suite for two nights and got two large rooms with a double bed each. The rooms were beautifully done, and each had a bathroom. The location of the hotel is about five minutes on foot from the prehistoric museum and other restaurants in the area. While we stayed here the hotel restaurant was only open on the weekend, so on Thursday we had to look elsewhere. The personnel was super helpful to find us a place to eat. The hotel has its parking right across the street, no problems here with a narrow parking garage. I wish we could have tried the pool, it looked fabulous. Unfortunately it was too cold.

One of the nicest hotels I stayed in while visiting France for three weeks. It was a good value, although it wasn’t the busy time. The room was spacious and clean. It overlooked the road into town, but was not too noisy. The owners are friendly and helpful. I would love to return someday and stay with them.

Best hotel in town !!! Best restaurant in town !!! Great service and hospitality ! It was clean, stylish, roomy with excellent service in where we had dinner. Food was very good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient.

Absolutely charming hotel. Perfectly located for exploring Les Eyzies and the entire Dordogne region. The owners, Jan and Ruud, took what was already a recommended hotel and have added their many enhancements with great style and taste. The room was very comfortable with modern fixtures, furnishings, and WiFi. The bar and restaurant are first class. We enjoyed drinks on their lovely terrace and breakfast and dinner in the richly-furnished dining room. We did not have time to take advantage of the swimming pool given that we visited six different caves during our stay, but it looked very inviting in its garden setting. Free parking was conveniently located across the street. An ideal three-night stay and an excellent value.

What a wonderful experience! The hotel is a beautifully restored property with unique artwork. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast served in a modern, warm environment. The location is close to the train station and an easy stroll into town. Ruud and Yann are knowledgeable hosts with recommendations that greatly enhanced or stay.

The hotel is historic, beautifully restored, ancient/modern interior that is dramatic and comfortable. Natural stone from the mountainside is incorporated into the walls and the terrace - spectacular. Renovations tasteful and simple - create an atmosphere that is authentic but contemporary. The hosts are wonderful - warm, professional, energetic and knowledgeable. Breakfast superb.

I have stayed at Hotel Cro-Magnon twice--it is an enchanting environment, and the service is wonderful--Jan and Ruud are so friendly and helpful. I hated to leave! Proximity to the town center, close to the river and the train station are a plus. Never enough time in Les Eyzies or at Cro-Magnon.

The hotel was a delight. We were lucky enough to stay for 9 nights and enjoyed every one of them. Yaan and Ruud make this lovely old place welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast is generous, and the dinners we had there were absolutely delicious. I cannot recommend the hotel enough. It's the ideal place to stay in a beautiful part of the world. The courtyard is so peaceful.
