호텔 드 바스타드(Hôtel de Bastard)

We last visited 5 years ago, and we were pleased to be back. It was even lovelier than I remembered. It was extremely hot during our stay, in the 40s, so were very pleased with the pool, and we made good use of it. Rooms are clean and had in-room safe, fan (no air con). In the bathroom there is soap and an all-encompassing shower gel/shampoo (no conditioner), along with a hairdryer. No kettle. No problem, we brought our own travel one. We had booked a room at the back of the hotel which had pool and valley views. We took breakfast every morning on the terrace, which was plentiful and delicious. You pre-order the night before. Coffee/tea, juice, bread, croissants, pain au chocolat, melon, ham, cheese, cake, butter, jam, muesli, and the most delicious homemade yogurt. 13€ a head. All served with a smile by whoever was on duty. We had dinner one evening too. That was delicious. We chose to sit in the dining room as it was very slightly cooler than sitting outside. I’ve left a separate review for that. There are many lovely restaurants in the town, a few of which are in the Michelin guide. Beware though, most of them, and the shops, are shut on a Monday. Annick and Philippe, the owners, are very present, extremely pleasant and helpful. Also, Delphine on reception was a delight. There is underground parking at the hotel, 8€ a night, which we used. Not only was it convenient, but it meant our car was cool when we got in it, rather than being out in the sun at 40 degrees plus. The hotel is in an excellent location, only a few mins walk from the ‘high street’ of Lectoure, with restaurants and shops. Also a very lovely patisserie, if you walk up to the ‘high street’ turn left and it’s a few minutes along on your left. We bought homemade quiche and sandwiches, cakes and cold drinks, for our lunch. We had a lovely afternoon out at La Romieu, a village about half an hour drive away, that has the most amazing garden (opens at 2pm), Les Jardins de Coursiana. We had lunch beforehand at a super restaurant called L'Etape d'Angeline (highly recommend) in a lovely village, that is well worth a wonder. So, all in all, would highly recommend this hotel. This was a very comfortable overnight stay on our French Camino. The hotel has a most beautiful central staircase - stunning. Our room on the second floor had air conditioning for which we were very grateful as our 24 day walk coincided with a European heat wave. The room was perfectly fine - comfortable bed, serviceable bathroom, one window in the roof which gave beautiful views. It was plain but super clean and exactly what we needed. Dinner on the terrace was absolutely delightful. The food was delicious and service was excellent. It was a real highlight of our day 😊 Breakfast was also very good and everyone we came into contact with working in the hotel/restaurant was friendly and very accomodating. Highly recommend. Lectoure itself is a lovely town.

The property, pool and courtyard has been allowed to fall into disrepair. The pooo had mild all over the floor and the court yard around the pool area was filthy. The maintenance crew, left their equipment lying around to trip over and the pre swim shower system adjacent to the pool was not operational. All in all, a large letdown.

Nous avons passé un délicieux moment dans cet hôtel de charme installé dans une ancienne maison de maître classée aux monuments historiques. La chambre petite était cosy et bien équipée, le diner au restaurant de l'hôtel excellent servi dans un cadre ravissant. Qui plus est l 'ensemble du personnel est accueillant, aimable et attentionné

Restaurant gastronomique avec des plats aux saveurs exceptionnelles. Tout d'abord les amuses bouches vous préparent à l'expérience....En entrée le ceviche réveille les papilles, en suivant, la cuisson du poisson est parfaite. Et que dire du soufflé aux pruneaux..... un délice. Service impeccable et cadre magnifique. Amateurs de très bons restaurants, à ne pas manquer !!!!!

Hôtel très charmant avec un accueil très chaleureux. L’hôtel est situé à côté du centre ville (tout en étant au calme) qui est très vivant. Côté restaurant, nous avons très bien dîné, des plats gastronomiques de très bonnes qualité pour un rapport qualité/prix très correct.

Hôtel situé en plein centre, tout en étant très calme ; beau bâtiment historique ; belle vue côté plaine. Personnel sympathique, aimable et efficace. Clim, piscine dans beau jardin. Petit déjeuner et dîner sur terrasse intérieure, vue sur jardin. Bonne table.

un magnifique endroit, plein de charme., un lieu très calme. La chambre avec vue sur la vallée, d 'un confort parfait avec un immense lit, un petit déjeuner très copieux et varié. Le diner était délicieux servi dans la superbe cour avec une très belle carte (plats et vins) Un accueil d'une grande gentillesse de la part des propriétaires ainsi qu' à la réception de l hôtel et aussi durant le repas avec un service exemplaire ( avec humour et c'est très plaisant) Nous avons passé des moments dont nous nous souviendrons avec grand plaisir. Retour au Bastard où je n'avais pas mis les pieds, à regret, depuis l'été 2021. Et vérifier que certaines vérités ne changent pas : l'accueil de Delphine, de Mme Birckel ; les petits déjeuners de Martine ; l'élégance de Maître Bernard et la cuisine de Philippe Birckel. Alors là, je recommande le foie gras mi-cuit, le magret et bien entendu le soufflé aux pruneaux et à l'Armagnac. Mention spéciale pour les escargots : le jus est un savant mélange de fond de veau et de persillades. Mais point trop n'en faut. J'assure qu'il y a moins de gras dans 12 escargots de chez Philippe que dans 6 d'ailleurs ! Bien entendu, déci delà quelques touches asiatiques. Par-dessus un côte de Gascogne bien senti. Le BONHEUR EST A LECTOURE !
