The 360 Boutique Hotel is located in a very convenient spot in Southern Iceland, with many famous attractions at a distance of about 1-1.5h drive. Make no mistake, a 5-star hotel this is not, and deliberately so. You will not have room service, laundry, 24h reception and food, or some other standard 5-star services you usually get. Instead, you have something very different: An owner couple, Anna and Ólafur, who built this hotel and run it with the utmost care for the wellbeing of their guests. This was the first time, we could understand the oft-abused phrase “a home away from home”. After a long day of exploring this amazing island, it really felt like coming home when we returned to the hotel where we were immediately greeted by the 2 lovely dogs without exception. Anna and Ólafur even woke us up at midnight and turned off the Christmas lights for the only occasion to see the Northern Lights during our 5-day stay, as we told them that we had never seen them before. The hotel rooms are nicely decorated, and clean. The breakfast buffet is a nice offering of local food with a bit of variety almost every day. And no, the eggs were not cold. The evening menu consists of 3 courses, the main course being a selection of meat (often lamb) and local fish. It was always good, to the point of excellent on some days. There are no vegetarian options by default, but I am sure, the chef will fix you something just as good. As others have mentioned, the dinner area with 2 huge tables might be difficult if the hotel is full, which we did not experience ourselves. Also, I assume the orange chairs can be a bit polarizing. And that’s about the only criticism I can come up with. Overall this was one of the literally nicest hotels we have ever been to. Anna and Ólafur will make you feel exceptionally welcome if you let them, and I guess they will just as well leave you alone if that’s what you prefer. And if they cannot break your ice, Tinna and Skroomba will. Promise.
