Walter's Place

A wonderful place to stay when visiting N Ireland for granddaughter’s football tournament in Green Island. Luxurious rooms with all facilities. Ownies bar and restaurant at the next door was ideal for breakfast, lunch or dinner - staff so friendly and food excellent. Loved Carrickfergus, castle, sea front promenade and gardens and especially a visit to the Secret Bookshelf. Easy access by train to Belfast if you don’t want to drive in.

Just got home from staying 3 nights at Walter’s Place , what a beautiful quirky little place to stay, beautifully presented room, we had a wonderful sea view, a great base to explore this part of Northern Ireland, close to the train station with frequent trains into Belfast, even the weather was amazing. Thank you to the lovely lady that looked after our room, it was spotless and topped up with essentials, also thank you to the staff in Ownies Bar, fabulous breakfast with great hospitality from the staff, not only serving our breakfast but giving us guidance and advice like a tourist guide all with a smile. We also had delicious home cooked evening meals in Ownies (next door). Highly recommend this place

16 girls stayed overnight for a hen night, absolutely fantastic couldn’t fault a thing, rooms were just fabulous, spacious and decorated to the highest standards. Bathrooms were definitely 5 star standard.Food was served in the wee pub Ownies next door every girl in our party said it was the best food they have ever tasted and with 16 in our party we sampled everthing on the evening menu. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable and not to mention the breakfast next morning which was included it also was amazing, every girl said they'll definitely be returning, already planning our next visit thank you Walter’s place 16 very happy ladies.

What a great hotel.... excellent location especially with a fantastic pub alongside, who could ask for more. Value for money and worth every cent. The room is modern and spacious and very clean. Parking is just outside and very convenient.

Lovely clean unique rooms, with all the mod cons and facilities including an in room fridge which is a great touch. Decent WiFi and a great big comfy All the staff were amazing and I can’t wait to revisit. I would definitely recommend whether staying for business or pleasure

We had to stay overnight after a wedding and there was no availability at the venue. Walters place was suggested nearby. The booking confirmation said, “ pick up the key in the pub next door.” We were a bit dubious but when we got there, the room was huge, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the shower room was great. To top it all, breakfast was an Ulster fry in the pub which was to die for. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. If you need somewhere to stay, Walters is the place
