I want to preface this by saying we never expected how good this was! We went off season and were glad to find a place to eat. We sat in the bar for a couple hours, waiting for the restaurant to open. The Barman, whose name we can’t believe we never asked, was perfect. Light chatter and best service! They had a nice selection of whisky and we drank several! When it was time for dinner, I got the venison and my husband got the fish. WOW! We've been so blown away by the change in the way food is prepared..here and now! The vegetables were incredible and done perfectly. The venison tasted almost like a perfect, prime rib with just a hint of the woods! We asked to thank the chef and he was embarrassed, I think, but we don’t do that at all..this was just one of those times we had to. The sad part is, the machine to pay wouldn’t let us tip, so we needed up getting their address and sending it to the hotel. We hope they received it! We didn’t stay in the hotel, we booked the Newsagents flat on Travelocity and it was lovely too. One block away from the hotel. Although the place is aged, it really was incredible and we’ve eaten all over the world! I think Scotland is finally realizing just how incredible they are! I’m married to a Brit, but my hearts here!
