톨라니 리조트 코 사무이(Tolani Resort Koh Samui)

If you looking for an excluded location away from everything then this is the place for you. But for us this was more or less like an unfinished project. In my opinion it was in the middle of nowhere, there’s no kitchen in the villas and the on site “cafe/restaurant” has been temporarily closed since it’s been opened. The main swimming pool has no filter and doesn’t get cleaned, the wood planks is all coming off the hinges and at night it’s super dark with barely any lighting. The “beach front” is just a pile of rubber. Our villa was a garden villa with the only one that had a huge tree attracting all sorts of wild life. We couldn’t even sit in our garden as we constantly got bitten and when asked front desk they said they have no first aid on site. Rooms would barely get cleaned if requested.

Very lonely property, no restaurant or breakfast service, no telephone in room .

This property is neither 5 star nor a resort/spa. They have small villas to rent and that is honestly all you get, and even the villas need some attention with regards to plumbing and housekeeping. There was no swimmable main pool area, no sun lounging opportunities or facilities. No spa and a deserted restaurant that had ghost town vibes. There is no beach set up and overall I felt very uncomfortable at the property based on the fact that it is clearly being marketed as something it is not and then I am not sure who I am dealing with on the property. There was one receptionist who was helpful until she realised I was not going to be quiet about the situation on the property. I would imagine this property was dumped by the original business during Covid and is being exploited by Tolani with as little investment and effort possible. They will claim 'renovations' which I would say having been there is 100% nonsense. Things are packed away, dusty and deserted.

I am not a usual negative reviewer and this is the first such review I have posted. We previously stayed at this resort under the X2 banner and booked and paid ($2,000 AUS) for a stay in May 2020. When Covid hit we contacted the resort and firstly moved the holiday to May 2021 and then May 2022. We then attempted to contact the resort in January 2022 only to have our emails bounce back. We then tried to contact the X2 parent company with no response. We then found the resort had changed its name to Tolani and sent a web email to them and then followed up with another email to their booking email address and again have received no response. Surely when a company takes over a resort with booking pre-paid it should honor these? At the very least some contact back to our emails would help.
