Aphrodite Beach

There was no fault in the hotel only in the rooms advertised. I picked this hotel because I wanted a beach front location. There were another 3 hotels close by that were similar and on the beach. I chose this hotel because it was newly renovated and the rooms looked amazing. Unfortunately I did not get a newly renovated room but an old room with wooden furniture. There was nothing wrong with the room it was big and clean I was just disappointed that I didn’t get a room that looked like the photo I saw.

Not sure exactly what was “wrong” with this hotel but never had the feeling of enjoying our stay over the whole week. Renovated rooms are ok with decent view. Breakfast distinctly very average by Cretan standards. Maybe the owners had a bad week but we never caught them smiling once. All very mechanical as though they were having a very tough season. Beach is a tiny sandy ***** just two sunbeds deep, and “popular with families” I.e. lots of kids. Water in the bay is shallow for quite some distance so can understand the attraction for small children. Short walk to the village and the seafront ***** with some decent restaurants e.g. Pixida. Can’t recommend the hotel restaurant though. Kissamos seems like a resort that failed to take off after the financial crisis, with more than its fair share of half developed lots. We won’t return but we probably won’t be missed either. We shall definitely return to Rethymno and Paleochora though.

Very nicely upgraded rooms, comfortable bed, great staff and lovely Cretan breakfast, JUst stayed one night. Excellent WiFi connections, 2 great restaurants nearby, easy parking.eXcellent bathroom and shower

Cannot fault this hotel in any way.Perfect position and location for beach,bars and restaurants.Rooms we’re spacious(214) sea view with balcony worth the extra.Spotlessly clean with monogrammed bedding etc.Comfortable bed with lovely pillows.Towels changed daily and room cleaned at the same time.Everyone from the owners,their family and every member of staff were friendly and personable at all times.Breakfast has something for everyone in a lovely setting.We had no luggage for four days and they did their best to recover it..No fault of theirs but they still tried..Big hello to Georgia and her colleagues on reception.This really is one of our best hotels and would recommend to anyone.

Aphrodite is a lovely hotel located just steps away from the beautiful beach. My garden room was large and beautifully styled, really modern and clean, and serviced thoroughly every day. The bed was comfortable and the balcony was secluded (more with a view of one tree than the whole garden but perfect for me!). As my room was located at the edge of the hotel it was a tiny bit noisy from the road, but only if you had windows open. The staff were helpful and friendly, doing everything they could to make your stay a positive one. The pool was small but sufficient, and the beach had plentiful beds and parasols so there was always space. The bar was lovely, under the shade of big trees with crickets making the lovely sound synonymous with Kissamos! Service on the beach sunbeds was also excellent, with snacks and all kinds of drinks served. The only drawback of this was the use of plastic for these, it would be nice to see a more sustainable option. Other than that, it was perfect and I would love to come back!

Nice beachfront property and large crystal clear pool. Breakfast was good. The biggest issue is not all rooms are renovated and match the advertised photos. Our room was very dated. They had a lot of beach front lounges with a tiki bar and servers.

The Aphrodite Beach Hotel is a really friendly family run hotel, which is on the beach! The staff are very helpful and always smiling. We had a sea view from the room we stayed in. There are loads of things to eat for breakfast, which finishes at 10 am, so there's plenty of time. The beach outside the hotel is for the hotel guests only and has a lovely bar for snacks and drinks with friendly staff, while you lie on the loungers sunbathing and there are little tables for your drinks! The sea is very calm and the beach is very sandy, so it's ideal for small children. The sea is the warm Mediterranean. There are lots of fantastic restaurants near to the hotel, or a short taxi ride away (the hotel gets you a taxi). What I also liked was apparently Crete has the lowest crime rate in the whole of Europe! So you could leave your bag on the beach for a swim! Also we lost a sun cap and the hotel staff put items lost on the beach on a wall, so it was there the next day. Quite a change after living in London! This is the second time we have stayed and would go back again.

We stayed in Junior suite facing the garden and it was nice. Stagg was very nice and helpful. Cleaning was done daily. Beach was a minute away and didn't have any waves even on a windy day while the beach only 50m away had good waves that you could walk to and enjoy. Breakfast was amazing. Bar with really good cocktails that parents can enjoy while kids play either in the pool or at the beach.

I’ve just spent 4 nights at the Aphrodite Beach hotel and loved it. The rooms are lovely, super clean and the beds are so comfortable. The staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. I even met Aphrodite herself, such a lovely kind lady. I will definitely be returning next year!
