Mmmm where to begin.. Our first ever trip to Greece and we didn't have a massive budget, so ipsos di mare seemed to suit all of our options at the time We usually book half board, with a view that it's not that much more than a bed and breakfast option, but if we dont like the food we can go elsewhere and eat out.. After a nice easy transfer from the airport, we had a lovely welcome at reception, as we were relatively late, we were booked in quickly, but not rushed and shown to our room (with a pool view).. which gave us time to catch a late meal in the restaurant.. nice pizza's fresh from the oven.. The room.. Basic is the easiest description, enough room for a double bed, dressing table with small (old) fridge under, and small table to put a bag on, which was a good job as there is no wardrobe or shelving to speak of, so we ended up living out of unpacked bags for the week.. the small safe was a bit of an art form to open with the override key that we were given, but we got the hang of it eventually.. The bathroom.. .. a small metal drain plate in the middle of the floor seems to have the sole intention of removing as much skin from your feet as possible on every visit, so best off covered with a towel on the floor.. the shower was tiny to say the least.. (We had larger in our touring caravan) with a shower curtain that insisted on wrapping itself around you when wet and a shower head that had a mind of it's own when switched on.. good hot water and pressure though so tick in the box there.. finally the toilet itself.. we get that you aren't supposed to flush paper, but the toilet itself wouldn't stop filling up after flushing, so unless you had the knack to stop it was somewhat annoying.. Pool area.. is unkempt and untidy, but the water was clean and nice and cooling in the hot weather we had, so a bit of maintenance and ****ing wouldn't go amiss.. Restaurant.. we ate there every day to be fair.. only choosing to eat out one night as we fancied somewhere different. The waiters were nice and freindly, looked after us well and we had some good chats with them for some local knowledge (mainly about fishing) the food was nice and varied too, but limited to about four different dishes per day.. desserts were also good too with plenty of fresh fruit available if you wanted Overall.. its tired and careworn and looks like it needs some effort putting in to it to bring it up to scratch, we weren't expecting much to be honest, but we take the view that if its clean with clean bedding we will be ok.. other reviews moaned that you only get one pillow on the bed each.. ask at reception and another will appear as if by magic, so the staff do listen, are attentive and will help where possible.. the room was cleaned daily so a good tick in the box there Would recommend a poolside view room, as the sea view rooms overlooked the main road through Ipsos, so traffic was incessant and in the evening you could see the smog from exhaust fumes rising towards
