하이랜드 방갈로(Highland Bungalows)

We spent 6 nights at Highland Bungalow, and in our opinion, it was the best place we had in Sansibar.Reasons are the good food and cocktails to a moderate price, the cold water swimming pool,the nice room and, very important, the very friendly and helpful owner, Britta…. Sometimes, the music from the club in the neighbourhood was a little bit to loud, but that‘s Africa….

I would highly recommend Highland. Lovely place and great value for money. Very clean and well maintained. Very helpful and friendly owners and staff. Great food / menu especially the Friday evening show. Lovely pool area and gardens. Plenty of areas in the gardens to sit and relax. Few minutes walk from bars, restaurant and beach.

Avoid this place. Rooms vary in standard, our friends' was basic but fine, whereas ours had dirty marks on the wall, some questionable electrical safety, 3 sockets not working, leaking sink in the bathroom. The shower is powerful and hot but when put on the holder it just shoots at the ceiling so must be held in your hand. Beds comfortable enough. The pool itself is nice but the pool area is a bit tired with dirty tiles and burst covers on the sun loungers. Breakfast is made fresh to order, average but does the job. Strangely you need to pay to have water at breakfast?! The location is much further from the beach than stated on listing. 15 minutes according to Google Maps but the roads are dirt tracks full of holes, mud and puddles so it takes much longer. The local area is quiet during the day but seems to be a party place for locals at night. The icing on the cake is that the hotel bar plays nightclub level music till 3 or 4am every night. The owner of the bar was extremely unhelpful and rude when we asked for it to be turned down. He told us just to check out if we didn't like it but unfortunately we had already paid for our whole stay. Nightmare.

The room was spacious, air conditioned The pool area is very pleasant and there are many places to rest The staff is always at the need of customers, good reception. The restaurant is good value for money.

Hotel have very nice garden and pool. Rooms and garden were clean. The beds were comfortable. Staff were nice, but service was slow (appropriate for Zanzibar - hakuna matata, pole pole, no worries...).

The place was in a oke location en the pick up driver was very welcoming. They have to work on the cleanliness and the breakfast. You could only choose a few things and not a lot at stock. The WiFi was not good in the rooms but at the restaurant was it fine.

· Nice and spacious room, the big advantage is the refrigerator with freezer. Nice sitting outside with a view of the garden. to our surprise, there were no mosquitoes. Outside there is an amazing swimming pool with pleasant water. Close to the village where you can buy sugar cane juice fresh and freshly sliced fruit. I highly recommend.
