Hotel Monti on Igman's Olympic mountain near Sarajevo boasts a fantastic location and a thoughtfully designed atmosphere, which has drawn us back more than once. The hotel features a spa, sauna, salt room, massage, and swimming pool, and the rooms are comfortable—especially those with terraces. However, if you stay during peak summer season, you may encounter unpleasant smells in both the rooms and corridors, as many bus tourists bring food from the city and consume it in their rooms. It would be beneficial if the hotel designated a separate room for this purpose. Unfortunately, this ongoing issue has made us reconsider future stays until changes are made to address this concern. The restaurant, previously known for a good selection of tasty dishes, was disappointing this year due to a reduced menu and noticeable decline in quality. Hosting several international guests, we were disappointed by the limited and less satisfying offerings. The pool remains a nice amenity, especially with its Himalayan salt room. However, the spa experience was marred by the sight of parents with a small baby not wearing special swim diapers, which was concerning. It's a shame to see a hotel with such potential and a fantastic location not maintain its previous high standards. We hope to see improvements that will restore it to a four-star level. For now, based on recent experiences, I can only give it three stars. I look forward to updating this review if things improve.

I had a six months assignment with my organisation to Sarajevo. Over New Year Claudia came to visit me. She was in dire need of physiotherapy after an accident, but due to the pandemic she could not get it in our home country Austria. The Monti has an academic physiotherapist Mr. (Stefan). So we decided to give it a try. We did not regret it. Stefan is magic! But it was ultimately the engagement of Mr. Adi (reception) and Mrs Butmir (guest relations) who made it possible for us to move in, since we were already late with the booking. I have to mention that the whole reception staff is outstanding! The food is superb (chefs Adela and Amir) and Mr. Ervin (and Mr. Damir) and the rest of the service staff were super-helpful, and creative, so we decided to stay in the Monti for the remainder of my contract (94 days). We did not regret it. Every day in this unique hotel was a highlight, it would go to far to describe all what they did for us. The housekeeping is "gold standard", which is in particular of importance when you are staying for a longer period of time. The Monti is a new hotel built in the style of the Dinaric Alps. The surrounding nature is forested, pristine and beautiful. The indoor pool has 25 meters (!). The spa and the gym are top notch. The whole staff is lovely. We are looking forward to come again. Tipp: Ask Mr. Ervin (chef de rang) for a beef Wellington. It is not on the menu but no-one prepares it better than the staff of the Monti! Thank you Monti!!!
