I always enjoy visiting the Tides Inn. One of my favorite places to get away for the weekend. Plenty of activities and far from the hustle of the city. Kilmarnock is not far away for shopping. Food at the on-site restaurants are very good.

We stayed at The Tides Inn for just two nights in early April and really wish we could've stayed longer. The staff is hospitable and helpful. We especially appreciated and enjoyed our server in the dining room (a young lady from Mexico). And even though the restaurant was in temporary quarters, the food was outstanding. Even though the property is going through a fair amount of renovation, they have provided sufficient workarounds that it didn't interfere with our stay. The room was quite comfortable, especially the bed. We would come back in a heartbeat.

The Tides Inn was such a beautiful property it was like paradise! Taniyah was such a nice and helpful housekeeper! Everything in the minibar is free! The rooms are very nice with wonderful views of the bay! Finally, the restaurant was very yummy with really yummy lamp chops!

We found Tides Inn through an article about dog friendly weekend trips. Our two teenagers wanted to bring our pup with us for a long weekend over spring break. I'm so glad we went! We signed up for several of the Experiences offered by Tides Inn. Paint and Pinot (teenagers had mocktails), Tides Inn Tea, and Chesapeake Gold (oyster tour guided by an ecologist). I recommend all of them! We also enjoyed the bikes that are available for guests. The food at the restaurant was delicious. The staff was super friendly and professional. We were able to get adjoining rooms that had water views. The rooms are charming with lots of nice details. We enjoyed the town and shops (limited hours when we were there). This wasn't a cheap trip but I really appreciated the quality. There is construction going on but the activity seemed limited to Tuesday afternoons through Thursday mornings maybe? Was not an issue for us. Definitely want to go back!

Staff was great. Room was clean. Rooms was spacious and clean. Bathroom was perfect (big). views were lovely of the water. There was a light fixture hanging from our ceiling in our room but that was a minimal thing during our stay. Lots to do, lots of options within walking distance but it was raining so we drove. Construction is taking place currently so be aware of that. Beware of hidden fees for in room service as I was not aware of a delivery fee and taxed on top of that. We visited the spa and it was perfect. The staff, the massages all the way till just before the end when the relaxation was broken due to noise above the room. I do not know if there were people staying above this room or if it was part of the construction. Either way, it deflated the great experience I was having.

I stayed for four days to wind down after a difficult period. It was wonderful, Quiet, clean and beautiful. Food was great too. I strongly recommend it for relaxation or their many activities. Good place to be.

My wife and I celebrated her birthday weekend at the Tides Inn this past weekend and we were surprised to find the impact of the construction on our visit. Our room overlooked a construction road and site destroying what should have been an awesome river view and the main restaurant was closed forcing us to dine in what appeared to be a make shift conference room turned restaurant dining area. The staff was gracious and did all that they could to make our stay enjoyable but the usual quality of the facility was impacted. We have always enjoyed the Tides Inn but hope that they would really consider the impact of construction and go an extra mile to make the experience less impacted. I know this is hard to do but Quality resorts find a way especially when you have a couple celebrating such a wonderful occassion.

Took a fantastic excursion (Chesapeake Gold) with Smiley. Highly recommend this educational and fun trip learning about oyster farming and aquaculture. Nice finish with oysters and beer on the dock with Captain and Chef Smiley, great fun.

About 3 hours outside of Washington DC, this place is fairly quiet, in a small, sleepy town. Nice for a 4-day stay to relax. Although this location is waterfront, the beach is not swimmable because of boat traffic and jellyfish. There is a pool and a beach to relax on. Prices are a little on the slightly higher end for accommodations and food/drink on-site. There are a few gift shops and eateries a short bike ride away, with other options that are within driving distance.
