Oak Island has a paid parking program that charges for the majority of public parking spaces along the beach from April 1 - September 30 between the hours of 9am-5pm. Paid parking passes are purchased at time of use through a mobile app at a rate of $5/hour, $20/day or $80/week. Town of Oak Island public parking spaces are clearly marked and are generally located at public beach access points and town-managed recreation areas such as Middletown Park. High-end laminate flooring and ceramic tiled flooring in wet areas make clean up easy. The living room boasts a 55” smart TV with access to Netflix & Hulu (bring your login info!). The kitchen is packed full of dishes, cookware, small appliances and other essentials. We love to cook and have taken great care to include all the elements needed to create memorable meals. There is a separate laundry room and common cleaning supplies available as well.The Primary bedroom has a King bed, walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom with double vanity & garden tub, dresser, bedside tables, quilt/coverlet, and pillows. Our absolute favorite place in the world is “The Point” – the westernmost part of the Island where you can enjoy outstanding sunsets and calm waters.We love the western part of the island. It's quiet but offers quick access to everything that makes OKI special. Take a left out of the driveway to reach the Intracoastal waterway - calm waters perfect for fishing. Take a right and arrive at the beach in less than 10 minutes (walking) or 2 (by car/bike)! Lots of lovely oaks adorn the island and the beaches, well, they speak for themselves.The Wooden Whale is located very close to the Swain's Cut Bridge (the "new bridge"), one of two access points to the island. There are two grocery stores on the island (Food Lion and Publix on Oak Island Drive) in addition to Lowe's Foods located just across the Middleton bridge. The island is motor and pedestrian-friendly. Oak Island Drive has sidewalks that run it's length and the neighborhood streets are quiet and calm.We have six beach chairs & umbrellas for you to use, and an excellent rental service to recommend if additional items are needed. Two lounge chairs are also available, although we ask you refrain from taking them to the beach - they are perfect for sunbathing at the house.Sadly, no pets are allowed and smoking is strictly prohibited in the house. Please dispose of any cigarette butts outside appropriately. Evidence of neglect in this area will forfeit your security deposit.
